SOLVED. YA Murder Mystery: involving a girl on a spaceship, possibly ghosts, possibly a cat. Read 1990s. [s]

Girl on a spaceship tries to solve a murder. Potentially aided by a cat that seems to know a lot? And there might be a ghost, or that might just be in the title. The spaceship was on a journey of a few weeks or months so it was one of those things where everybody is living in close proximity but people didn’t really know each other yet. I remember it being a little scary because the main character is just a kid and the murderer is, well, not, and there is a scene near the end where her life comes under threat.

Afraid that’s all I got for now. If I saw the cover I would know it.

Does anything on the 20th Century YA and Middle Grade Science Fiction list look familiar?

I don't quite recognize this, but you can rule out Heinlein and Andre Norton; I know both of their lists of works and it isn't similar. It could be HM Hoover - Children of Morrow - not this book but I can't get the author to link. Another author to try is Louise Lawrence.

Sadly no to the above. I checked out all suggested lists/authors and I’m not seeing it.

I don’t think it was from before the 1990s. I remember it having a simple name like “Ghost Ship” or “Alien Ghost” or something.

Size-wise, it was trade paperback, not mass market if that helps.
