Around 2014-2016 When I was in elementary school I remember that we had a little event our teacher organized for our class. I was in grade 5 or 6 at the time. Basically we met with an author in our school library and she told us about her work and read the first few pages of her book.

One thing I remember distinctly is that she said her name was not attached to the book and that she was a ghostwriter who put the authors ideas to paper and wrote it for them.

The book opened up exactly as I described it in the header: Follows troublemaker boy, his mom whose a witch introduces him to her friends daughter, a shy girl
With grey eyes who can control nature. I remember that after the trouble maker and the shy girl met, the boys mom told him not to misbehave or she’d cast a spell on him that would make him grow a tail. That’s I believe where she stopped reading.


For additional information If anyone wants to dig deeper she also explained it was a series and showed us the cover of book 2 which showed a unicorn standing upright on its 2 back legs, it’s front hooves leaning forward in the air making some sort majestic pose.

The book took place on Prince Edward Island, or that's where your school was located?

That’s where my school was located. I believe the author mentioned visiting multiple schools on the island.

To where we got in the book, we were only told that she could control nature and communicate with animals.

The world was a high fantasy world if i recall correctly.
