Katrisa | 4512 comments For a book with yellow flowers will this one work? They are clearly sunflowers, but are shadowy so they aren't bright yellow.
Where Darkness Blooms by Andrea Hannah

message 302: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60251 comments I'll allow it Katrisa. A friend of mine gave me a seeding of a sunflower that is supposed to have pink flowers. It's on the deck battling extreme heat and now wind. If it survives, it will be a sturdy thing.

message 303: by Katrisa (new)

Katrisa | 4512 comments I plant sunflowers with my kindergarteners at the end of every year. I love sunflowers.

message 304: by Heather (new)

Heather | 212 comments May I use Before the Coffee Gets Cold as the first in a series of 4? There are currently 4 books published in the series, but book 5 is set to come out in NOV.

message 305: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60251 comments I'm afraid not, Heather. The 5th book, Before We Forget Kindness was originally published in March 2023.

OK, thanks! I must have been looking at the English version and forgot that it was translated.

Nistha | 1023 comments For the tide in title task, would you accept plurals like Sidney Sheldon's The Tides of Memory ?

message 308: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60251 comments Yes

message 309: by Viji (new)

Viji | 1522 comments I started reading What the River Knows by Isabel Ibañez for the task: Read a book that has river in the title, or a river on the cover
relating to
Lares Trak Roya Inca Trail to Machu Pichu
Checkpoint 1: Sacred Valley

This book is about a young girl's quest along the river Nile to discover the truth behind the mysterious deaths of her parents in Egypt.

Would it be acceptable if I read Jewel of the Nile which also seems to be a quest of a young girl who wants to discover the truth about her parents as Connection #1?

Thanks.

Kristie | 19410 comments That sounds like it fits exceptionally well to me, Viji!

Grainne Coughlan | 1374 comments For El Camino task

Read a book with a large tram, train, vehicle, or plane on the cover. This museum is about historical travel, so what is needed are OLD CLASSIC vehicles.

Does this work?
The Red Leather Diary: Reclaiming a Life Through the Pages of a Lost Journal
The Red Leather Diary Reclaiming a Life Through the Pages of a Lost Journal (P.S.) by Lily Koppel

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 2318 comments I have two possible for large man made structure on cover

Sarum by Edward Rutherfurd shows stonehenge

and The Paris Affair by Fiona Schneider

I am not convinced about either so decided to ask

message 316: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60251 comments Either would work, but I think Sarum shows the structure more prominently.

Katrisa | 4512 comments For the task in Dracula "read a book tagged as Crime" will you accept MPG True Crime or does Crime have to stand alone?

message 319: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60251 comments True crime will work.

message 320: by Katrisa (new)

Katrisa | 4512 comments thanks Janice!

message 321: by Viji (new)

Viji | 1522 comments Lares Trak Roya Inca Trail to Machu Pichu
Checkpoint 4: Huchayccasa & Ipsaycocha Passes
Read a book that is set in the mountains

Would The High Mountains of Portugal by Yann Martel The High Mountains of Portugal or Paths of Glory work for this task?

A few more suggestions for this task would be appreciated very much.

Thanks.

message 322: by Viji (new)

Viji | 1522 comments One more choice of mine for the mountain task is Heidi by Johanna Spyri Heidi. I hope it fits the task.
Thanks.

message 325: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19410 comments Janice - When I planned this section of my challenge Iron Flame had a top genre of romance. It no longer does, so when I went to report Pumpkin Everything as my next book the link isn't really accurate. Iron Flame is now romantasy, but it has fantasy-romance as a main page genre (romance has been pushed all the way to the second page!). Can you either confirm for me that fantasy-romance and romance will work as both having "romance" as a main page genre or just take a peek at both pages and confirm that they both have "adult" as a main page genre and I'll use that? Just want to make sure it's confirmed before it changes again.

message 326: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60251 comments Fantasy romance will work as romance, so you're fine.

message 327: by Esther (last edited Oct 25, 2024 02:30PM) (new)

message 330: by Nistha (new)

Nistha | 1023 comments For inspired by literature, Read a book about Ancient Greece, or Rome. - can it be a greek mythology like Circe or does it have to be non fiction about ancient Greece?

message 331: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60251 comments It may be Greek mythology.

message 332: by Nistha (new)

Nistha | 1023 comments Thanks Janice

message 333: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 1825 comments For El Camino Trail and an author named James, can it be the last name? I want to check because in my head the task sounds like it's just the first name.

message 334: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60251 comments It could be either Amanda.

message 335: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 1825 comments Thanks, Janice!

message 336: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19230 comments SO....

I realised I hadn't reported my last book that I managed to finish with 2 hours to go on the 31st. And.... I think I have completely stuffed the challenge lol.

I can't seem to find the rules for 2024 anywhere. Was there are rule for working out how long audiobooks are? Or still going with the top rated paperback...

message 337: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60251 comments I think I accidentally deleted it. I was trying to copy it for the 2025 rules and my fingers did a fancy dance on the keyboard and POOF!

Let's go with the top rated print book, whether it be paperback or hardcover.

message 338: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19230 comments Kk. That was what I thought, but couldn't double check.
Yup. Stuffed the challenge by 2 pages lol

message 339: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60251 comments Dang! That's too bad, Rusalka.

message 340: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11337 comments That's bad...

message 341: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19230 comments It's hilarious :D

And what makes things a challenge. My message is to double check the task and triple check along the way that your book fits the task. Just because you think you got it right a few days ago, maybe double check things like page numbers as you may (if me, probably) have read it wrong!

message 342: by Marie (UK) (last edited Aug 11, 2025 02:07PM) (new)

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 2318 comments would you consider this as a rose for items on cover Spellbound by Georgia Leighton

and this for night sky The Midnight Carousel by Fiza Saeed McLynn

message 343: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60251 comments Yes to both. The rose stem on the left side of the cover has thorns.

message 344: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19230 comments I know I am completely discombobulated at the moment, but... For the 2024 challenge?

message 345: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11337 comments LOL

message 346: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60251 comments LOL! Yes, the question was posted in the wrong thread. It was asked again this morning in the correct thread, and I was saying, "But I answered this yesterday? Didn't I?" At least you caught on it was in the 2024 thread.
