No, but only if they are just naturally aging during the book. So, if they are mentioned as 11 in the prologue, but in chapter 1 they are 18, that won't work.

bamaace83 | 1437 comments I know it's the last week and I'm over here trying to get books to fit. My original goal was to read month for month but I got behind in January and February isn't looking much better. If anyone else is reading the Things We Never Got Over book, one of the main characters is 11, it's over 500 pages, and you get extra points for going to talk about it.

Also, anyone got a good recommendation for MPG Folklore that's not going to be a slow read.

Sammy wrote: "Does it have the be the POV character, or can it be an obviously major character, like Tamlin/Rhysand in A Court of Thorns and Roses for example?"

Any character is fine, as long as there is a "speaking" role or a plot-driven part in the story. It doesn't have to be a main character, but it can't be just an off-hand comment (e.g. "fairy's exist").

Also, if the book/world considers them a "fairy/fae", even if it's not the "usual" definition of one, that's ok.

message 232: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3761 comments Awesome, thanks. That helps, as I have precisely zero books with a Fae POV that I can tell or remember (maybe some of the ones I haven't gotten around to reading yet, but it could take me a while to find out by reading them! 😆)

I may well move on to book 2 of ACOTAR, if I can find a cheap copy somewhere 😁

The library, maybe? Or a thrift/second hand type store?

message 234: by Sammy (last edited Mar 02, 2024 01:12PM) (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3761 comments My library will definitely not have it. it doesn't have much in the way of books published this century 😂

I'm sure I will find it, or I might see if I can sign up for a Scrib'd trial with my parents' address or something if they have it 😁

ETA: Yes they do. So will do that later this month.

Nanci | 256 comments Does anyone have a suggestion for fairy book? I've read Peter Pan, so I'd like to read something different. I'm not a fantasy fan, so looking for a quick read...200 pages or less.
TIA

message 236: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 3761 comments Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries is a little longer at 317 pages, but a very quick read. Also it's not very "fantasy" as far as these things go (set in our world, for starters).

No, because then we open the door to other creatures that are similar to fairies, like sprites. There is some disagreement on the matter, so I'm going to stick with Fairy or Fae(rie). And, as I said above, if the book/world considers them a "fairy/fae", even if it's not the "usual" definition of one, it works.

Bernadette (bernadettedaniel) | 1501 comments The definition of shore is "the land along the edge of a sea, lake, or other large body of water" - whatever you decide is fine. I've got plenty of open letters I can use it for.
