2024: (Impossible) Disney Challenge

It's one of the tasks still eluding me!
(and just like last year, the lion on cover is proving problematic, lol)

(I did a reread on audio on the Magic Tides & Magic Claims for lion, which was very good).

Is that a spin-off series Lexi? I've not actually read the originals yet! (and the page count of book 1 is a bit meh! There's not even a 7, 8 or 9 for TURF wars! lol)

It's a hoot if anyone wants to read this one, it was a re-read for me
It is 261 pages though so a bit under point wise :/
But even if not for Disney, I recommend for all m/m fans, and it has some plays a bit on beauty and the beast in a way with dragons, the rose, castle

I am an Eliot Greyson fan and since I'm not doing the challenge for the points I'll probably use it. Thanks!

Great, let me know what you think! I literally cracked up with several moments in this one, and it's also actually sweet.

It is a continuation of the main series, so I would not read it on its own, but the first one also has a lion on the cover and is a good audio. It is clearly a first book and the writing gets stronger even by book 2.

I tend to ignore the under 300 page books until it's getting later in the year and I'm panicking because I haven't found stuff for specific tasks 😆
I suspect I'll go for the Ilona Andrews when it gets to that stage. Last year I read a freebie lion shifter book that are several hours of my life I'll never get back! I'd rather lose a couple of points than put myself through book 2 😂

101 Dalmatians

Must be completed between 1-Sep-2024 and 30-Sep-2024
Read a book with a black-and-white cover
Edited to note: The Black-and-White portion of the cover should be the vast majority of the colors on the cover, but small accent color(s) are acceptable. For example:

For Tagged New Orleans, would you take if its on a list about being set in New Orleans?

Recs please people! (preferably free on UK audible +) As I not only have nothing on my TBR, but nothing in my read books either! 😲
The Lighthouse Witches by C.J. Cooke follows three sisters - Luna, Sapphire, and Clover - who move to a Scottish lighthouse with a dark history. When two of the sisters go missing, the story takes a supernatural turn.
The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow ($2.99 on kindle - US??) is a powerful tale of three witch sisters - James Juniper, Agnes Amaranth, and Beatrice Belladonna - who join the suffrage movement in New Salem. They must reclaim their magical heritage to fight for women's rights.
Witches of East End by Melissa de la Cruz... The three Beauchamp women--Joanna and her daughters Freya and Ingrid--live in North Hampton, out on the tip of Long Island.
The Cahill Witch Chronicles by Jessica Spotswood is a YA series featuring three witch sisters - Cate, Maura, and Tess - in a society where witchcraft is punishable by imprisonment or death.
These Witches Don't Burn by Isabel Sterling follows Hannah, an Elemental witch living in Salem, and includes her coven which features sisterly relationships.
The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave, while not strictly about witch sisters (I will allow it for the "sisterly" community feel), explores the bonds between women in a community facing witch hunts. It's inspired by real historical events and offers a powerful look at sisterhood in the face of persecution.

(not touching the Alix E Harrow. I hated both of the books I've read by her, so am ready to call her an author I don't like, lol)

That's one I don't mind re-reading!

It's not a central part of the plot if that is what we need for this task.

For us MM Romance readers, any chance we could "Conjure up a book featuring witch brothers!"
Or can the witch sisters not be Main Characters?

Yes and Yes!
Boy witches are perfectly acceptable!

So I read Weyward for one of the monthly bonuses in August.
Would I have to re-read in November to get the bonus points for buddy read?
Or could I add to the discussion and then use the buddy bonus points on my read from August?
Sry if this is written in a confusing way
Maria, are you using the book twice? I'm confused!
Unless the book is a Formal Buddy Read (one run by the group mods), you would need to participate in a discussion with another member when reading to claim BR bonus points.
Also, for this challenge, while rereads DO count they must have been read more than a year ago, so you wouldn't be able to re-read a book you read in August anyway.

Is that a little bit clear what I am asking? :)
Ok, I understand now. Unfortunately no, as that is part of the challenge for bonus points, reading during the specified time.

The MC was even real life explorer Sir Richard Francis Burton.
Story of my life. Do you want a physical journey for this one, or would say, the search for a murderer count?
Sammy! Why does this always happen to you!!?
Be creative! If you think they are looking for or finding something, it works. Literal/Figurative, etc

Just curious - will you be hosting a similar year-long challenge for 2025? This is such a cool concept, but there is no way I'm joining now that the year is almost over.
