Have you joined in any of the group reads here at 21st Century Lit? If so, what was the first book you read with the group?

Had to look back just to make sure I was right, but my memory came through for a change: Arcadia by Lauren Groff. Hard to believe that was 9 years ago!

I think the first one I read specifically for the group was Middlesex (September 2015).

Bretnie | 838 comments I came over from the Newest Literary Fiction group for Laurus in 2018.

here's the index to all books if it's helpful for looking up the date:

Thanks, Bretnie! I forgot that was an option. :D
I used the group bookshelf: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...

Bretnie | 838 comments Ha, related to our previous question of the week about memory, I couldn't remember if Laurus was 2, 5, or 10 years ago haha.

Aetherial Worlds: Stories by Tatyana Tolstaya (early 2020). I still fondly remember our group discussion that Hugh moderated.

An easy way to find this for older members may be to hover over your avatar on a comment you've made in this group then select "see comment history". From there you can go to your first group comments.

My first one in this group seems have been Fourth of July Creek back in 2014.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) To be honest, I haven't read anything with the group. I did participate in the discussion of Stardust by Neil Gaiman but I had read it prior to the group read.

I did read This Thing of Darkness by Harry Thompson a few months after the group read it and I posted my thoughts in the discussion.

Kathleen | 353 comments Looking back, this group has introduced me to a good number of great reads! My first was The Big Green Tent by Lyudmila Ulitskaya in 2017. Loved it.

I took more notes on that book than possibly any other book ever as I was trying to capture all the characters and their relations to one another. No idea what inspired me… :D
