Which long-running series do you think is worth the time?

Monty highly recommends Steven Erikson’s The Bonehunters, but says you need to read the first five books of the Malazan Book of the Fallen series first. “But if you have the time, and are craving a 'hard' fantasy book, this is one of the best series published in the last 25 years.”
