Hi I'm trying to remember a book I read in secondary school (probably around 1995)
It was about a little boy, and he befriended a dog, and there was a part where soldiers were about to discover him so the dog ran out in the opposite direction on purpose to create a distraction and the boy escaped not the dog was shot and killed :(
I remember being absolutely devastated and really upset that our teacher had made us read something so sad!
It's not a lot to go on but hopefully might ring a bell with someone?
