This graphic memoir took place in 2007 as Glidden and her friend took a sponsored birthright tour of Israel, published in 2010. Reading in 2023 what struck me most was how all the same conversations are still happening, all the same issues are unresolved, most of the same people are still involved, even the post-9-11 wars are in the background. This is a memoir during a period where the author was young, with great conviction yet inexperienced and impressionable. The reader should have mixed feelings along with Glidden. That is important, but especially disconcerting in the current emotional atmosphere.
It was in a comic strip style, wordy, a bit impressionistic, with a lot of tourist photos as reference.

Shout out to librarians! This was on the front-facing shelf in the graphic novel section. It included topics around Israel, Iran, Afghanistan, Judaism, Islam ... topics in the current discourse that provide some varied views.
