I'm sure I can find something related to NF. There are a few books I've seen out there that talk about various different scenarios (future events) that could happen so I might go that route.
I haven't read John Scalzi's Old Man's War so I'm going to try that. There are so many good books for this prompt - I'll go through my read books list and add some to the listopia.

I really liked The World Without Us and it would work well for this one

I'm sure any climate change book can fit the category.

It reminds me of this series I used to watch called 'Life After People.'
I just read 2 books that meet this prompt and I really liked both.
I think I will do either the next Murderbot or the next book in the Eve Dallas series by J. D. Robb
I'm probably going to go with The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural HistoryIt talks about 5 previous mass extinctions but mentions how "scientists around the world are currently monitoring the sixth extinction, predicted to be the most devastating extinction event since the asteroid impact that wiped out the dinosaurs.."
Since it talks about future scientific activity I figure it could work.
The 10th anniversary edition comes out in April 2024 so I'll probably wait until then.
My general Star Trek recommendation for this is Federation. If you want a specific recommendation for a series, character, or plot type, ask away, and I will put some more choices in here.

And that's probably set in space, too, right? I know most of the ST shows are in space, so I assume the books follow suit

A lot of the action in Federation is ship-based, but there is also some stuff in 21st-century London. People can decide if any Earth or planet-based material will disqualify it for them, but I would generally count it for both prompts.
Even though I'm using this for another prompt already, Interstellar: The Official Movie Novelization would also work for this one because it deals with various future events.
Haha I just looked at the listopia and I've read half of them...so this prompt is super easy for me.
They're not on the listopia's (or at least I didn't see them), but I could recommend James Howard Kunstler's series "World Made by Hand" where the vision of the future isn't outer-space-like but more like... back to the 1800's xD It's a "vision of a post-oil society in America in which the electricity has flickered off, the Internet is a distant memory, and the government is little more than a rumor." Travel is horse-drawn, farming is again at the center of life, and only those with a practical skill or trade have some chances at survival.
Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler is set in 2024...which was the future when it was written. So many of the prompts revolve around the number 24 that I thought this would be an interesting choice.
I’m reading Our Missing Hearts by Celeste Nge and think it works for this prompt. It doesn’t necessarily say it’s in the future but it’s more of an alternate near future. I’m about 1/2 way through and really like it so far
Parable of the Talents it is! I loved Parable of the Sower and immediately purchased a copy of the second book but have yet to read it! Perfect!

I read Beneath the Sugar Sky for this prompt. If you're more into fantasy than sci-fi, this is an interesting choice. The characters use portal magic to travel to a different world that is ahead of us/them time. Some other books that fit the prompt that I read and loved:
Leviathan Wakes (The Expanse series)
Hidden Empire (Saga of Seven Suns series)
The Hunger Games
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers series)
Ready Player One
Here and Now and Then
Do You Dream of Terra-Two?
The Queen of the Tearling
I can't decide which book to read for this one.Do I go the fiction route with the book:
Interstellar: The Complete Screenplay with Selected Storyboards
This one talks about futuristic technology.
*****
or do I go the nonfiction route with:
Interstellar: The Search for Extraterrestrial Life and Our Future in the Stars
This one not only has the word 'future' in it, but it also deals with the possible future of humanity should we discover that extraterrestrials are real and that we should prepare for that reality.
I am slotting in To Paradise, the third part of which takes place in 2093...but I will possibly want to re-read Life, The Universe and Everything after I read prompt #18
“In the Lives of Puppets” by TJ Klune. It doesn’t explicitly say that it’s in the future, but it is.
Octavia Butler – Dawn.If it has Ms Butler's name on it, I'll read it. And I'm not a huge sci-fi fan.
Finished The Other Valley
by Scott Alexander HowardMy Review:

I read Fahrenheit 451. It doesn't specifically say when it takes place but many believe it was 2053. It was definitely set in the future in 1953 she it was published...it mentions something not occurring since 1990
I am reading V for Vendetta by Alan Moore. I have seen this book on every graphic novel list, happy that I get to read it now. The blurb reads "Set in an imagined future England that has given itself over to fascism, this groundbreaking story captures both the suffocating nature of life in an authoritarian police state and the redemptive power of the human spirit which rebels against it."
Need something quick for this prompt? I realized The Exception to the Rule by Christina Lauren has sections at the end that are set in the future.
I read The Midnight Feast. It's set in 2025, which for a book published in 2024 is technically in the future.
The only hard part for this prompt was narrowing down which SF book on my shelf to use. Chain-Gang All-Stars is a fantastic dark satire in which prisoners do gladiator battles to the death. Think The Hunger Games crossed with "Oz" (the HBO prison series, not Dorothy).http://www.lauraruthloomis.com/whats-...

Near future, far future, deep future, alternate future, post-apocalyptic future, time travel to the future ... so many futures! How to choose just one?? I don't know!
If you're groaning at the thought of more sci-fi, and you haven't yet picked up MurderBot, congratulations, now is your chance to read that book that started it all: All Systems Red!
If you're more of a lit-fic fan, now you have a place to slot in Chain-Gang All-Stars or How High We Go in the Dark.
