Hikari97 | 1 comments Hi! I'm searching for a book i started reading when i was a child but never finnished. Maybe around 13-15 years ago? I got the book in a public libary so it could be older than that. Idk anything about the author. I read it in german so there is a possibility that the author was german but i doubt it.

I just read the beginning. In the first few pages/chapters the main charater, a young boy goes to a swamp/forest to catch "wisps" with his uncle or some male adult person who is not his dad iirc. (I think it's his first time catching wisps) He catches 2 of them and puts them into a jar. Afterwards they go to the village/city and hang the jar on a big tree, where others put theirs too. They celebrate some kind of festival and the boy watches his wisps on the tree as they fuse together and form one big wisp. (I think he is in a building and watches them from a window?) Pretty soon afterwards the village gets attacked. I don't know anymore if the attackers where human or not and what exaclty he did. I think he was in a building.

My bf read the same book and i said he thinks the boy and his uncle flee the village and in the end of the book the main city of the country gets attacked by some wizard? The front cover was pretty dark iirc. Perhaps with a forest or swamp on it.

Hikari97, is this book for kids and teens?

I copied some book details to the topic header. Feel free to edit it.
