SOLVED. Children's/ Middle Grade chapter book read circa 2018, presumably a 2010s release - plot involves girl and her grandmother(?) who has her interstellar discovery stolen. [s]

Plot was, in detail, about a girl (younger teenager maybe?) who is passionate about inventions and who welds a glove for a school science fair, yet her accomplishments are discredited as they don't believe she did it herself. She somehow learns that her grandmother (or relative of sorts) discovered something about a star, yet the accomplishment was accredited to her male co-worker, so they try to settle that. I believe it was set in the present day. My 5th grade class read it (so it may have been a Canadian release) but I can't find any information now. I think the cover was predominantly white and gray with some red and had the protagonist, aka younger girl, front and centre.
