Her books take on serious themes, wrapped up in tales about time travelling historians who observe historical events but always end up getting into a situation and having to extricate themselves. Lots of zany, quirky plots and characters. I just love this author.

Though… Imogen, Obviously was very funny too. I guess it’s not the first that comes to mind because there’s so much else going on, but the Dr. Seuss, the halves of the cat, the German sausage thing… yeah I laughed a lot at that one too. :)






I agree with many of the earlier entries - especially Pratchett and Adams but Wilt by Tom Sharpe stands out - all of his books are hilarious because of the calamitous situations in which his characters find themselves. Can't leave out PG Wodehouse from any list of comedic writers.
