One of them would have to be You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle. I’m pretty sure there’s been multiple but I can’t think of any of them at the moment.
Hitchhikers Guide books & Red Dwarf books. But I agree with several other contributors that Carl Hiaasen knows how to tickle a funny bone.
I’m not generally a fan of funny books but I make an exception for Jodi Taylor’s Chronicles of St. Mary’s series. She’s a lot like Terry Pratchett, Connie Willis, etc. although not quite as silly. Her books take on serious themes, wrapped up in tales about time travelling historians who observe historical events but always end up getting into a situation and having to extricate themselves. Lots of zany, quirky plots and characters. I just love this author.
I'm with Tina...I generally don't read too many funny books, but the funniest one I've read in the last few years was ...The Idiot Girls' Action-Adventure Club: True Tales from a Magnificent and Clumsy Life by Laurie Notaro
I have to admit, that whatever I feel like reading a comedy that will make me laugh out loud, I pick up a Lindsey Kelk book. She never disappoints

That sounds like fun! Lol. I shall put that on my TBR for a day when I need to be cheered up.
probably trials of apollo by rick riordan. apollo was one of the funniest protagonists i’ve read about so far.
I really enjoy the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich they make me laugh out loud. They are a lot of fun!!

I’m not sure about ever, but one of the funniest this year was Not My Problem. I mean, it started out super-funny, and eventually turned a little heavier, but I still laughed out loud more than at any other book.Though… Imogen, Obviously was very funny too. I guess it’s not the first that comes to mind because there’s so much else going on, but the Dr. Seuss, the halves of the cat, the German sausage thing… yeah I laughed a lot at that one too. :)
I don't know that it was THE FUNNIEST, but the book that came to mind was The Hilarious World of Depression by John Moe. It was both funny and informative.
I recently read Gwen and Art Are Not in Love by Lex Croucher which I thought was really funny. I also think Rick Riordan's books are pretty funny.
Recently I read a MM romance series Bear, Otter and the Kid, I haven't chuckled out loud so much in a book in a long time. A top recommendation!!!
well, Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy is up there. As is Pratchett. I also used to love Tom Sharpe as well, although I am not sure they would be politically correct nowadays.
I'm reading the Rabbit Hutch and I laughted so hard such that some people questioned my state of mind.

Can't leave out PG Wodehouse from any list of comedic writers.
Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. I'm also reading A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore and it's so funny. The Devil's Replacement by Michael D.A. Clarke is a other that I found quite humourous.
Thanks for all the suggestions! This is a great thread. My idea of funny is that I stop reading because I can’t catch my breath from laughing out loud for about 10 minutes and I peed my pants. “The Last Eligible Billionaire” by Pippa Grant…a contemporary romcom.
Hitchhikers Guide was the first book I ever laughed out loud while reading. One of the few books that I go back and read again.
Aunts Aren't Gentlemen is probably my favorite Wodehouse so far, and he has not let me down once for laughs. The Grip of Film by Richard Ayoade has some funny stuff. For example, he says that at the beginning of Citizen Kane "The shame of dropping a snow globe causes an old man to die."
I’ve read two of Paul Beatty’s that are both hilarious and amazing social commentaries: “The White Boy Shuffle” and “The Sellout”
Catch 22 by Heller, Native Tongue by Hiassen, and any of the collections of newspaper columns by Mike Royko.
I don’t often read funny books, but books that made me laugh out loud were An Idiot Abroad and Bridget Jones’s Diary!
I see that Terry Pratchett is on here a bunch. I’m not really into audiobooks, but I listened to “Good Omens” and all the voices really made it so much fun. I was LOLing, all alone with headphones in (a while ago, ear buds weren’t a thing), which made it even funnier.
