Hitchhikers Guide books & Red Dwarf books. But I agree with several other contributors that Carl Hiaasen knows how to tickle a funny bone.

I’m not generally a fan of funny books but I make an exception for Jodi Taylor’s Chronicles of St. Mary’s series. She’s a lot like Terry Pratchett, Connie Willis, etc. although not quite as silly.
Her books take on serious themes, wrapped up in tales about time travelling historians who observe historical events but always end up getting into a situation and having to extricate themselves. Lots of zany, quirky plots and characters. I just love this author.

I’m not sure about ever, but one of the funniest this year was Not My Problem. I mean, it started out super-funny, and eventually turned a little heavier, but I still laughed out loud more than at any other book.

Though… Imogen, Obviously was very funny too. I guess it’s not the first that comes to mind because there’s so much else going on, but the Dr. Seuss, the halves of the cat, the German sausage thing… yeah I laughed a lot at that one too. :)

I agree with many of the earlier entries - especially Pratchett and Adams but Wilt by Tom Sharpe stands out - all of his books are hilarious because of the calamitous situations in which his characters find themselves. Can't leave out PG Wodehouse from any list of comedic writers.

Aunts Aren't Gentlemen is probably my favorite Wodehouse so far, and he has not let me down once for laughs. The Grip of Film by Richard Ayoade has some funny stuff. For example, he says that at the beginning of Citizen Kane "The shame of dropping a snow globe causes an old man to die."

I see that Terry Pratchett is on here a bunch. I’m not really into audiobooks, but I listened to “Good Omens” and all the voices really made it so much fun. I was LOLing, all alone with headphones in (a while ago, ear buds weren’t a thing), which made it even funnier.
