SOLVED. A book about a swamp adventure, 2 boys, Everglades, YA possibly. [s]

This book may have been published anywhere from 1986 to 1994. I do not remember the exact age I was so that's as close as I can get.
The story is about two boys, they may be brothers or perhaps friends. They become lost in the Everglades, The Everglades specifically, I remember that at least. They use a 'canoe'? One is bitten by a coral snake. Specifically, a coral snake. They find that the empty shack in the swamp is inhabited by a swamp witch, who turns out to know herbalism and makes a concoction to counter act the poison. She collects rainwater in large barrels.
I remember this being a lot like the Hardy Boys, But I don't believe it is, as I have read all those. It was a very short bokk, probably less than a hundred pages. Large print maybe, for an elementary school child possibly.
But It still feels very Johnny Quest in my mind. Any ideas???
