Hey Amanda, I think the number of the book simply refers to your specific number, as in, how many books from the pool have you read? If this is your first book, and you’re #18, you just say something like, “#18 here with my first book, “book name”, finished March 12, three stars”. It’s just to help Carol keep track, make sure her totals agree with yours. Hope that helps! ;o)

Thanks, Carol! I nominated it, after being blown away by The Siege of Krishnapur, I bought this book and The Singapore Grip. I’ve been wanting to read them, seemed a good time to dust them off and read at least one! His writing is brilliant but engrossing. I want to read Singapore Grip, but need a breather, read some lighter fare first! ;o)

#10 reporting:
I finished book #3, “Beyond the Vanishing Point” by Ray Cummings today. It’s a short book, but quite a bit of adventure packed into its pages. I would liken it to a mash-up of “Alice in Wonderland” meets “The Fly” and “The Jetsons” and “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” even though it was published in 1931 (when, apparently radioactivity was our friend). 🤣🤣 A quick romp with familiar characters put into massive/microscopic escapades. 4 stars for the fantasy of it all.

Also, it’s available on the Project Gutenberg website. Our library’s Inter-library Loan program is on hiatus until the renovation of the Main Library is completed. No idea when that will be, but glad to have been able to find it!

#20 finished The 39 Steps on March 31st, book 5 for me. This was my second reading of this short British gem. The plot is much different from what was used in the Hitchcock movie. Thanks to the person who put it on the list!
