#10Finished Book #4 today, November 29 - “The Sword of Shannara” by Terry Brooks. Just under the wire! I had forgotten that the challenge ended on November 30. 🤦♀️
I had also forgotten that Fantasy books are usually longer… Good thing I didn’t have to host Thanksgiving dinner so I had time to read in the car AND I had time to sit and read today until it was finished.
It was a 5-star read for me. Not knowing if the search for the Sword or the fight against the Warlock Lord would be successful kept me turning the pages even with long chapters. I don’t think I will read the rest of the series. I felt that the story ended at a good place.
I wasn’t able to read my fifth book choice as our library’s inter-library loan department hasn’t been available all year due to a major remodel project. And, I ran out of time, too.
Carol, I am just as glad people like and dislike different books since it makes this forum more interesting.I won't finish my last book in time but because I am enjoying it too much to rush. Also, I've had a very nice/social couple days this week instead of staying home and reading.
I fully expect to finish and give a good review to Cheerfulness Breaks In and already finding it poignant that the characters (view spoiler)

Added for you Kate.
& sometimes things happen & you just can't get to a book you have chosen & that isn't a problem in this group. :)

Glad you have been having a good time Jackie!
Yes, it would be a dull old world if we all liked the same thing!

I really enjoyed touch bases with Helen McInnes - read a lot of her novels as a teenager (many many years ago)You tend to forget what a good writer and it's a pity more aren't familiar with her body of work.
Thanks to everyone who has made this such a fun year!
I'm hoping everyone has got their reads in. If you haven't just post here & I'll add it.

Congratulations, ladies, you’re reading machines!
CarolThank you for all your hard work on keeping track of who read what and when they read it.
I especially enjoyed the 'popular' books list. I was amused that 3 of those titles were part of my contribution to the pool (Sally-Ann, 39 Steps, and Sugar-Candy Cottage). I guess a lot of us were in the mood for cozy reads!

#5 here. Forgot to say that I finished Bramton Wick by Elizabeth Fair. Not a lot of reading this year but my eye is healing and I can finally see again!

Hi Sharon
Do you mean you finished on or before the 30 November deadline? Because I can add it to your total if so.

In spite of my best intentions, I only read 3 books on the list! I didn’t even finish the five books I suggested! (In my defence, I did enjoy some other retro reads that were not on the list.) It’s still a great idea and I have the utmost admiration for our organizer, Carol. Happy new year and happy reading in 2025!

I didn’t finish one of my books either, and had a tough time with availability on several titles. Happy New Year and happy reading to you!

Oh, sorry if you felt any sense of obligation, Elinor - I like to acknowledge the top readers, but it really isn't a competition - more a way to discover authors that are in danger of being forgotten.
All the best for 2025!

My favourite reread was The Conqueror's Wife
My favourite new-to-me was Blue Camellia I have read quite a few of FPK's books & this is my favourite yet.
Most disappointing was Breakfast with the Nikolides
& sorry to all the fans of this book but Who Killed the Curate? was my least favourite read.
