Middle grade book about a girl who inherits a castle and has to prove herself as evil with the castle's occupants help

It had a purple cover with her, the castle, and some of the servants on the front, and the title was in big silver letters. I read the book in the 2010s, maybe 2011-2013. It was a dead tree book and seemed newish, I had gotten it in my school's library so I'm not quite sure. The time period felt lowkey medieval with magic in it. There was a town by the castle and it had the cobblestone, everyone knew each other feel. It was published in English and America
The plot I remember was about this girl who inherited a castle but needed to prove she was evil to keep the castle so the occupants could keep their home. I remember a ritual at one point of the book and some sort of underground creatures but I'm not sure what it was. It was very much made for middle schoolers.
