I read this in the early 00's. It had a dark cover but can't remember anything to do with title/author/illustrations etc... I do remember the author being compared to Joseph Delaney though not sure why. Might be they're both northern (English) writers? Somewhere in Lancashire or Scarborough or something?
The book's protagonist was a priest and the reason I didn't finish it at the time was that I found too many references to religion (namely Christianity) which at the time I found annoying. But now I just want to remember what it was. I'm sure it contained fantasy elements but I don't remember much about them. A demon maybe?
Please help, it's driving me mad tyring to think what this is.
