If you are joining us for "Drowning-The Rescue of Flight 1421" we continue this exciting story.
What are your thoughts about this book so far? I am hoping for a good end for everyone. There is a lot of pressure for Chris and Will to keep their personal feelings in control while trying to remain professional and not make the rescue more complicated. The Diving teams have a risky task trying to quickly save the passengers against time and accomplishing it without putting lives at risk. Chris is running against resistance and politics while trying to convince rescue teams to have faith in her plan.
Can she accomplish the rescue against the odds? We shall see...
Chapter 20 Kit and Will were discussing the news that Chris' team was working on a rescue plan. Will talked about Chris and his admiration and respect he had for her. All these words did not sound like someone who wanted to divorce his wife. They were words of love. Will was asked why he left her if he loved her. What others did not know was that it was more complicated than that. They had lost a child. Will and Shannon were thinking about Chris. Will knew Chris was trying to figure out a way to save them. He had faith in her.
Chapter 21 Rescue groups were landing on the USS Powell to assemble and start working on the rescue plan. Chris finally met Fitz. Chris brought her team with her. Chris worked with Fitz and started going over her concerns. All the dive teams had their opinions, concerns and ideas. It was not going to be easy for everyone to agree. Some wanted tests before putting the plan into action. Chris disagreed. There was no time for tests or the plan being 100% safe. They had no time. No one else had options. The teams had to make quick decisions.
Chapter 22 The passengers had to start taking the plane apart to meet Chris's plan. Some did not agree with that plan. The falcon needed to land on the airplane. Wires needed to be cut for their safety. Will worked through the wires and insulation. Kit went to the emergency cut-off switch. The plane went into darkness.
Chapter 23 Meanwhile Chris was looking at the position of the plane. It was unsafe and needed resistance if they were going to proceed. They needed to brace the plane. While the team argued which direction to go next, Chris was told that they had lost contact with the plane. There were almost 2 hours of oxygen left inside the plane.
Chapter 24 Passengers were angry that the power went out. Andy and Will started to fight with each other. Kit did her best to break up the argument. They had lost lights and communication to the outside world. They did confirm that despite that, they confirmed that the electricity was off.
Chapter 25 The rescue team trying to confirm that the passengers were okay without power. They were concerned that they lost communication with them. Caputo thinks that their safest way in the plane is through the cockpit. With SEIE suits that would seal a person inside with a breathing apparatus. Chris questioned whether or not suits were available for all ages and needs. Chris was not sure of this plan. She didn't think it was going to work.
Will these plans work? Can the rescue teams cooperate and get a plan in action? Chris isn't too sure about the latest plan. Can she convince the team to try and see her point of view? Can the passengers remain calm through this ordeal? Air is running out!
