How to start your novel with style:
say Fuck Elmore Leonard, and his opinions about opening a novel with a mention of the weather... LOL...

interbreast sweat, all the alliteration, then the cop is like WOAH WOAH WOAH, calm down buddies...
I zoomed through the first 20% last night, paused to eat (2nd try... first dinner was a disaster and threw it away)... watched some TV while eating and never returned to reading... should finish today...
It zoomed by so fast, what I read before pausing...
I think the sound effects work for the noir feel...

Zoomed through this today. It was interesting, but I don't think I was in the mood for it. I did like the concept though.
I got about 70% and then stalled a little. It’s quirky and the concept is interesting but it’s not hitting right and I’m not sure why. I will 100% finish it this week but I’m finding myself lulled by other reads. I almost feel like I need to start it again and listen at a slower pace.

There were definitely a lot of parts where it startled a laugh out of me. But nothing stuck in my mind except the premise. I think this would've been better as an eye read. It actually reminded me a bit of Hammers on Bone--P.I, twisted cases, weird sense of humor... body horror...
Also, finals right now, so brain is pretty fried trying to grade mountains of papers by Friday... LOL

Read this one a couple days ago. Really liked it! I had to put it down the first time I tried starting because I was a weeeee bit too tipsy to follow in the beginning lolBut the next day I basically plowed through it.. Very interesting concept, and I'm just a big fan of how Cantero writes.. Lots of meta :D
Yea... I'm still super excited for his current book he's writing, with timey-wimey stuff and bastardly time cops...
I’m struggling with this one. I am obsessed with Meddling Kids so I’m surprised that I don't like this one. I think I might be too old and square for this because I can tell it’s funny and cheeky but most of it is going over my head. I’m like 80% and I’m not really sure what’s happening. I had hoped to finish it today so I could start Persepolis but I’ve done no listening today cause I’m avoiding this. I’m going to go ahead and start Persepolis and see if I can finish this one before the end of the year sometime. I bought it on Audible so it’ll be waiting for me if I decide to go back to it. If I don’t want to get back to it by the 31st I’ll DNF it.
Dang, sorry it's not working out for you Felina! It's probably one of those books you need to be in the right mood for too..
I think you’re right. This time of the year is the most stressful at my job so I bet I’m just not in the mood. Thank you! I’ve been bugged because I do feel like this is something I would enjoy. Since I own it, I’m going to step away for now and try again in a few months.

I think I wasn't quite in the right mood for it either, though I could tell it was something I'd find more interesting in the right one... just a stressful few weeks here too.
