I read the Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse and was disappointed in it. The MC did not grab me. There was also an annoying overuse of ellipses and some editing errors. 2/5

I just finished Strange Folk by Alli Dyer. Such a great book with a wonderfully fantastical world of folk magic. I’ll be writing my review soon, but I highly recommend it. It comes out on August 6, 2024.
The Lost Gift to the Italian Island by Barbara Josselsohn ⭐⭐⭐.7 https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Flowers of Buffoonery by the late Osamu Dazai. Gave it 4 out of 5 stars, it is a surprisingly nicely written novella
Blood work by Michael Connelly. I rate it a 5 because I couldn't figure out who was the killler, it was a complete surprise and great twist in the end.
The last book I read was "Dead Mountain" by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. They write the greatest thrillers. They are authors of the Pendergast thrillers. "Dead Mountain" is another one of their thriller series: Nora Kelly (an archeologist) and Corrie Swanson (FBI agent) are the investigators. All stars!!!!!
I reread Meg Waite Clayton’s The Wednesday Sisters after many years. I really enjoyed reading it again. 4/5Before that, I read Michael Cunningham’s Day. It is a magnificent book. 5/5
Just before that, I read Charlotte Wood’s The Stoneyard Devotional. It is an outstanding book. 5/5
The Sentence by Louise Erdrich. Loved the book, but it wasn't what I expected. I expected a funny book about a ghost haunting a bookshop. Instead, I found it thought-provoking and introspective, with the central character trying to understand why she's harassed by the spirit of her least favorite character--and how to get the woman to stop haunting her.
