I just finished How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu. WOW - LOVED IT! Somehow I missed that it is a book of interconnected short stories. I don't usually gravitate to short stories, but I'm not sure I've ever read an interconnected collection. Makes a BIG difference. And this author is SO inventive! The last story I found absolutely magical! It's sci-fi, but definitely not in the Space Opera sense. More near future dystopian (but with Hope - as was the author's stated intent).

I read "Pay It Forward" by Catherine Ryan Hyde. I loved the idea of the story, and it was nice seeing multiple perspectives. The characters were a bit flat for me, and the ending was forshadowed enough that it reduced the impact. Still, I love the idea that we can all make a difference by doing something significant for others and those kindnesses can be paid forward to others.
I'm reading My Ántonia by Willa Cather, a book I've been intending to read for decades, and it's absolutely gorgeous. So glad the challenge gave me the kick I needed to finally pick it up!ETA: I loved this book! My review can be found here.
