Sabra Wilson | 2 comments I read this book in 2009/2010 (SPOILERS THROUGHOUT) From what i can remember about it the book seemed aged to a slightly younger audience than i was though i was only 14 at the time and it was in the YA section of the library. It had the term in or ink something in the title. Not ink heart or anything in that series. It had a old fashion brothers Grimm fairy tail feel to it. The story took place in an alternate world. the main character grew up in a very very swampy region and she felt her whole life would be spent there. she was a little girl (about 13) and in the middle of the night a bell ringer(i think thats its name its calling card was smoke and ringing a bell i think it lulled people to sleep) stole her little brother. She left her swampy ome which she had never done before and went on an adventure to get him back. Meanwhile the bell ringer is chasing her. She goes through several obsticals. notably she encounters the house of a which who like to eat childrens bones. At the end of the story we discover she is the "Author" or "writer" who in essence is the creater of the world they live in and her brother being stolen gave her the motivation to go through the obsticals which were a series of tests to see if she was worthy of the role

YES IT IS! wow i read the summary about this book and was so surprised how my memory of the story has twisted and changed over the years. I was probably merging the story lines of other novels ive read with this one. Thanks so much!!
