A book where a dad teaches his sons bully karate

I’m looking for a book I read as a child. It had a boy being bullied and then his Dad begins teaching his bully karate. He may have found some dinosaur bones or something but not sure.

I read it around 1990.
The boy was maybe around 10 years old.
It was a children’s novel aimed at children of around that age group.

Good shout unfortunately it’s not that one. After a bit of head scratching and google searching I think I’ve found the book. The Dragon in the Garden by
Reginald Maddock.
I found a review that says the dad teaches his son judo to fight a bully but doesn’t say the dad teaches the bully so may have to find a copy to read to confirm. It also mentions him finding dragon bones in his garden so my memory of dinosaur bones matches up.
