I read Before I Let You Go By Kennedy Ryan for this prompt. I rated it 4 stars, but I would suggest checking trigger warnings if you are a sensitive reader. It was also on the spicy side. Before I Let Go
I read Who Is Maud Dixon by Alexandra Andrews. Rather unbelievable, but pleasant enough escapist fare.
I picked the book The Golden Couple. It was decent, but I felt like the plot changed into a Lifetime movie plot in the third act. I would have liked this book better if it was a comedy about a therapist using bizarre tactics to fix relationships. It seemed like that was the direction it was headed at first only for it to be a dark suspense story. Either way, I'd rather read this one than my first choice Outlander. That one I had trouble getting into.
I read Heartless by Marissa Meyer. It has 58 chapters, I think. A great Queen of Hearts origin story.
I just finished The House on Mango Street. I didn't pick it because of the amount of chapters but when I realized the amount of chapters I put it in that category. It was a short but amazing read. The chapters are very short.
Paula wrote: "I am going to double dip with this one. The Game of Tomes book club is reading Count of Monte Cristo for January-February. It is 117 chapters, Let's see if I can cram it into a week."I double dip between book club prompts all the time. If I didn't I would be challenged to read an impossible number of books. I wouldn't get anything else done. lol
I used "My Mother's Secret" for "the word secret in the title" but, while a very short book(188 pages) that can easily be read in one sitting, it does have more than 40 chapters (58, to be exact)!
I read The Edge of the Water by Elizabeth George, the second book in a series for teens with elements of mystery, paranormal, and romance. https://cdnbookworm.blogspot.com/2024...
Haruki Murakami's 1Q84.I read a few books this year that qualify, but I'm going to choose the worst one for this prompt! I loathe this book!!

Uh oh, that one's on my list for the 'Finding Identity' prompt.
“The Servants of Twilight” by Dean Koontz has 72 chapters but I don’t recommend it. It is not as good as “Cold Fire”.
Since I'm now on Chapter 45 of "Murder in the South of France" by Susan Kiernan-Lewis, this novel qualifies for "more than 40 chapters"!
I ended up reading The Ballad of Never After by Stephanie Garber. More than 40 chapters and a killer cliffhanger.
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. lol finally checked out if the hype matched. I think I’m going to enjoy the series.
I did Lilith by Nikki Marmery. I stopped counting chapters after I got to 20 in the first 25% of the book. I'm sure it had way over 40.
I've just started reading Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson for this prompt. So far so good! 41 Chapters.
