Iona | 55 comments I read this book in about 2016-2019. There was a similar book by the same author so I hope I’m only thinking of one rather than mixing both together.

A girl (about 12-14) and her family moved to a house and discovered there was a ghost there whose name might have been something like Ivy. SPOILER ALERT- whilst they thought she was a ‘good’ ghost and the main character was friendly with her at first it turned out she was actually somehow evil and responsible for some people from the house dying in the Titanic. Not quite sure how.

Other details- the cover was blue ish with perhaps a drawing of the house. The girl had a love interest but he had a minor part. There was also another girl involved called Cameron or Cam (or maybe this was the boy?) whom the girl was jealous of. In one scene they were in a sort of village tea room, then the boy asked the girls to describe themselves in three words. One of the words the other girl said was ‘swimmer’.

There was also some sort of reference in the story to the white star line. Perhaps the estate agents who led to them living in the house, or perhaps a band… I feel like the father had some sort of similar venture to being in a band.

Thanks in advance. I have tried numerous Google searches for YA involving titanic etc but no joy so far.

Iona | 55 comments I think it was published after 2000 and probably during the 2010s. There were some modern defences.

bookel | 4026 comments Try searching worldcat.org with year range, keyword Titanic, subject "juvenile fiction".
The White Star Line -- British shipping line. Titanic was operated by them.

Iona | 55 comments Thanks, I have tried a few searches. I think the fact that the Titanic was only a minor part of the story is preventing me from finding it.

Sorry I think I was unclear- yes, the white star line is the titanic shipping line but it was also some other kind of venture in the story. I remember the characters commenting on the coincidence as if it had been fate that brought them to the house. The other white star line may have been the father or stepfather’s company/band or maybe an estate agents.

Iona | 55 comments Thanks for the list but unfortunately the book wasn’t on it. I have finally found it thanks to world cat, so thanks for the link - a different book by the same author came up which led me to it. The book was ‘The Whispers of Wilderwood Hall’ by Karen McCombie.
