Tien (tiensblurb) | 1641 comments My one mistake is reading this book the week before I go on our camping trip... We will not step away from the path. Repeat, we will not be stepping away from the path!

The book opens with a teacher waking up after being hit unconscious on the back of her head only to find that she has lost 4 female students under her charge. Thereon follows search and rescue and investigations as to what were happening at the campsite but also what's going on in the small town of Limestone Creek. Whatever secrets hidden in the town and the lives of the residents drove me rather crazy but what these girls had going on in their heads made me shudder.

The novel is told from a few perspectives:
*the aforesaid teacher
*the primary investigator, Con Badenhorst
*the father of one of the missing girls, Jordan Murphy

The chapters with specific narrators were well defined and it was very easy to follow with no confusion at all. I appreciated this so much as I usually have troubles with multiple perspectives but I had no issue whatsoever with this one. They were each so unique in their voices and the plot itself was so propulsive, I could barely put the book down. The only thing I didn't like was Con's partner, Gabriella, as for some reason, I found her very annoying.

If you enjoyed The Dry by Jane Harper, you would definitely enjoyed this novel too.
