This was an easy to read legal thriller. I loved the fast pace and the characters.
I wanted to give this 4 stars, but felt like I needed to knock off a star because of (view spoiler)[ - We never meet the mastermind behind the whole scheme. He was revealed almost in passing. - The entire end of the book was very rushed, and the author moved from a really great "show don't tell" format to just summing up who did it and how they were caught. Very disappointing in a thriller. - The main character spends his whole life getting to and through law school, gaining a highly sought position with his new firm. But then quickly rediscovers a whole new reason for his existence, becoming an advocate for the homeless. It's a noble story line, but I think would have been better placed if the main character had been working away for a few years, was finally promoted but found the experience empty. Just my opinion. - Per the author's note at the end of the book, he had an encounter with the homeless community in Austin TX that changed the course of his own life, and that experience inspired this book. I'd suggest he write the book describing his experiences - or a book more closely aligned with his actual experiences - it would have rung more true. (hide spoiler)] End of rant.
