I combined with other editions, it looks like this is series: Olé Mortadelo #84
https://www.goodreads.com/series/1030...
Many thanks Olga,However, this book belongs with a different series (Colección Olé! (Ediciones B, Mortadelo y Filemón, 1992-1993), while the one you mention is a different one, starting 1993, also named 'Colección Olé', but with different logo, dimensions, etc.
I don't know this series at all. To be series per GR rules books should have common characters, same world. I'm not sure about this series.I read in description of this comics: Número 84 de la colección «Olé Mortadelo».
Could you link to a site where there is the order of the series? Maybe fan site?
Could you please add this Malayalam Book? Publication details: Kottayam; Current Books; 2001
Edition: 1st
Description: 167p
ISBN: 81-240-1090-0
Uniform titles: Vruschikom vannu vilichu
Aparna, please follow the guidelines: How to request a book to be added to Goodreads and create a NEW thread for your request. Don't forget to add the source, where we can check the information.
Hi Olga,Sure, there are quite a few different series named "Collección Ole" but issued with different content, numeration, log, book sizes, etc along the years. Really confusing.
A link to the 1992-1993 series: https://www.tebeosfera.com/coleccione... (my book is #8). Sorry, it's in Spanish only.
A link to the series you mention:
https://www.tebeosfera.com/coleccione... (the work I'm referring to was published as #84 in this collection). Note the different logo on the cover page (upper left), and the dimensions (30 x 21), as compared with the other series (26 x 18).
Best,
It seems to me the books/stories from the 1992-1993 collections are also included in the 1993-? collection as well. Like https://www.tebeosfera.com/numeros/mo... and https://www.tebeosfera.com/numeros/mo.... Unless the stories in those books are considerably different, I don't think they would constitute a separate series on GR.
Hi Javier, I don't know about the GR rules on series. However, several editions of the same work are included in GR, even for the same language [e.g. 630 editions for the Maltese Falcon, several of them in Spanish]. And those two books are clearly two different editions (different cover and different dimensions, issued in different years). So I don't see why those two different edition shouldn't be listed in GR.Also, not all books from the 1992-1993 collections are also included in the 1993-? collection, nor vice versa. So they are not the same series, even by GR rules.
I'm not saying the other edition does not exist. In fact both editions can be added (if you can provide the data and a valid link for the other entry), and, if the content of each individual volume is the same, then they should be combined. I don't see what The Maltese Falcon has to do with this other than all 630+ editions are combined as a single work.Creating two series for books sharing the same content would be like adding a new series for, let's say, each different edition of Batman: Year One. Sure, there are several different covers, publication dates, size, page count, translations, etc. All valid editions, all sharing the same content so they are grouped under the same series. The fact that in 1992/1993 not all the issues were released is irrelevant, the content of the books sharing the same title keeps being the same. If that is not the case and they are 100% different books, that would be a different story.
I don't really grasp the differences between edition and series.Sure, my book should be catalogued as a different edition of the same work (different ISBN, format, etc). However, the fact is that my book has been incorporated to GR under the Caption "Olé Mortadelo #84", which is not correct. I was asking just to remove that caption. You can access the other editions just by clicking on the "Editions" link, so the "Olé Mortadelo #84 series" link is superfluous. In addition, this assignment to a particular series (Olé Mortadelo) is arbitrary, as there are other series that contains that book.
My Maltese Falcon example was to show that a work with many editions had no associated 'series'. So, why the need for the series caption "Olé Mortadelo #84" over the main title? I'd understand "Olé Mortadelo", but #84 is wrong and misleading.
Best,
I've removed the #84 now (may take some time to update). That was added to the primary edition following the old policy for series, and thus attached to all other editions. The policy has changed several months ago (due to cases like this one, I presume) and now comics series are to follow these guidelines:
the series page should NOT be numbered and only ordered according to the volume number
Other titles in this series are still numbered so maybe a librarian working on series cleanup would fix them as well.
