The series is set in an olde english fantasy world, and the first book starts off with the MC running away from home because her deadbeat father tries to sell her off to repay his gambling debts. I think there’s some sort of conflict with the military/kingdom as well? She can see magical creatures, or fae, and doesn’t realize until later that she can actually call them to her. There’s definitely a specific keyword the author uses for the creatures, but I can’t remember it. She ends up traveling far away, receiving help from the little creatures along the way and nearly dies in a snowstorm before being rescued by a rebel group, where she eventually stays and trains her ability. Turns out she can call an entire army of the magical folk. It was a series I really enjoyed, and I remember a decent amount of the book but for the life of me I cannot remember what the author’s name is or if The Calling was the actual name. Thanks in advance to everyone who helps out!
