Thank you Natasha for getting us searching! Here are a few purple books I've read recently that I liked...I was able to double check on a few of these as they do work double duty for instrument
piano
violin
(KU) guitar

I'm going to start the challenge with
if we think it's 50% purple. I think I will have no problem finding instruments also...
Starting with Feet of Clay for a purple book and then from there....well it will depend on the other challenges I'm working on.

Yeah just ran it through tineye and it's blue. So guess I'll start with that and go from there.
I have quite a few on my pile for the challenge. If it is acceptable I am just going to plop them into the spread sheet, read all week, and then update on the Friday. I usually read on my commute and am running all week.
We lost internet on Sunday (someone cut the line in the alley behind our house) and with our largest work event this week I'm just now catching up! Here is my shelf for the challenge - challenge-wheel-8-2023. I will head over to the spreadsheet this evening if people are already plugging things in.

How long are the roots? If they are more than 3-4 inches, go ahead and plant it in soil. If the roots are shorter - make sure you are changing the water every few days and that it is getting enough sun. I have had the most luck with cutting where there were several nodes already on the stem rather than just one. I also probably lose two or three cuttings for everyone that makes it - my cats think that plants left on the ledge to get sun are play things so I have mostly given up on cuttings.

Thanks for the advice Kate...if I just put a small cut in a few places...is that what you are saying works best. I got a few more stems from her for my birthday...so I'm hoping I can make something of it.
Kate wrote: "We lost internet on Sunday (someone cut the line in the alley behind our house) and with our largest work event this week I'm just now catching up! Here is my shelf for the challenge - challenge-wh..."Absolutely...go ahead and make plans.
I've personally had little time for GRs the last couple of days...but I'll be on there soon as well.

Book of the Month Bonus - Starts October 16 <- Just pretend it's Monday ;)
I think we're all veteran Wheel Readers...please ask if you have questions about BOM
*Our 1st BOM is open for those who want to volunteer for DQs...I'm glad to help you if you haven't done this before and want to give it a try.
It's a horror...so maybe not Cindy's thing...eek!

Does it have any of the nodules (bumps) on the stem? Those are what will sprout up from the main stem.

Love me some occasional horror and I really liked his The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires so I will totally read this!

Thanks Kate...I'm sure that's where I went wrong. Will get it one of these days :)
Natasha wrote: "How to Sell a Haunted House is on my tbr list. I'll have to see if I can get it from the library."Cool...you don't have to start on the exact date of the challenge starts...we have 30 days to read and address DQs from the start. We can also finish ahead if we want...as long as it's started after the start of the challenge.
I'm hoping the book I nominated for November wins...I'll automatically get DQs if it does. Check out the books and vote if you are interested...

🎼It's time to check in everyone!
🎼Just under 2 days until we start :)

🎼Note the countdown timer at the top of the Spreadsheet...excited to get going :)
Have a great weekend everyone. It is Thanksgiving here in Canada, so I will be traveling quite a bit. Nothing like a long train trip to read some books.
I can't wait! It's fall break for my kids so it will be a busy weekend. I am finishing up my first book and can't wait to hopefully sneak some reading in starting Saturday night, but will get to start in earnest Tuesday morning.
As of yesterday evening and the end of our biggest work event of the year I am on vacation (three days of the office closed and took the last two for fall break with my kids). Already have coffee, two books, and am settled in the “don’t bother mom unless the house is burning down chair.”
I am just now posting my books and I see that some people are posting characters' names that begin with letters that don't work for MANDOLIN, so my question is do we post all of the major characters even if they can't be used for mandolin?
Hello all, just checking in. I started two books yesterday that I hope to finish tomorrow or the next day, one of them being my purple cover book
Vicki wrote: "I am just now posting my books and I see that some people are posting characters' names that begin with letters that don't work for MANDOLIN, so my question is do we post all of the major character..."Only characters that work for our word are necessary...good catch Vicki! I hope Vegas was great!
Kate wrote: "As of yesterday evening and the end of our biggest work event of the year I am on vacation (three days of the office closed and took the last two for fall break with my kids). Already have coffee, ..."woohoo! I hope 'mom time' is going as planned...or at least partly as planned Kate!
Cindy wrote: "Hello all, just checking in. I started two books yesterday that I hope to finish tomorrow or the next day, one of them being my purple cover book"Great news Cindy...
@ALL...we do have 5 books claimed for purple...not that you can't read a purple book, but no need to go finding them as we're likely 'covered'...hehe!
Thanks, Tammie. We saw the ventriloquist Terry Fator, an AGT winner, and he was so funny! That was great. Hell’s Kitchen was fun but TOO loud! My laptop wasn’t working hardly at all so I waited till we got home to post my books but then I got sick. I’m feeling decent, just a lot of coughing.
Vicki wrote: "Thanks, Tammie. We saw the ventriloquist Terry Fator, an AGT winner, and he was so funny! That was great. Hell’s Kitchen was fun but TOO loud! My laptop wasn’t working hardly at all so I waited til..."oh boy...you might have covid...be sure to do a test...it's going around AGAIN!
I'm headed to Mexico this week and not looking forward to the possibility of getting sick...I think I'll wear my mask at the airport.
Tammie wrote: "Kate, Jax and Elli…looking forward to reading with you!Elli when I’m in a slump I go to what I love most. Doesn’t necessarily work for everyone though :).."
@Tammie: I've been re-reading Ilona Andrew's Kate Daniels series these days to fight off my slump but it worked too well that I only wanted to read their works for a period of time.
I'm trying to read humor books but with dark humor for a twist. Not sure if it can count for this challenge though.
Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened - it is tagged as a graphic novel & I can't find the word count on arbookfind.
I checked the UK and AUS sites as well and found no word count.https://www.arbookfind.co.uk/default....
https://www.arbookfind.com.au/default...
Unfortunately the rules don't allow graphic novels unless they can be verified by either word count or audio length.
◈ Books with MPGs Childrens / Kids / Poetry / Play / Graphic Novel / Illustrated / Photography / Art (or which have "Illustrated" in the title or an "Illustrator" contributor in the metadata) must have at least 30,000 words (must be a verified count. sites that provide estimated word counts are not valid sources for verifying word count). ArBookFind is a great site to double check (there are .com, .co.uk and .com.au versions). If in doubt, ask your captain. Another rule of thumb is the audiobook version should be over 3 hours.
Finished two books - adding them now to the spreadsheet - but vacation is off to a good start at least. And I got my garage cleaned out too!
Don’t you just feel free as a bird when you get a clean up done like that! Enjoy the rest of the vaca!
Hey Natasha…we’ve got you covered…😎I’ve got some major reading time coming up…vacation at the 🏖️ beach…woohoo! 🌴
I am so happy that tomorrow I will be taking my final for Pharmacology. This course has been rough but I think I am doing well. Next classes are a lot less intense so I will be adding a few more books to the spread sheet this weekend. Are we good for purple covers/instruments found? Is there anything we need that I should try to find?

At this moment it looks like the letter ‘n’ although it appears we have options to move things around too…so read what you love and hopefully there’s an ‘n’ in there we can use.
M wrote: "I am so happy that tomorrow I will be taking my final for Pharmacology. This course has been rough but I think I am doing well. Next classes are a lot less intense so I will be adding a few more bo..."Congratulations! What an accomplishment and a well-deserved break is in order for you!!
So if we have more than needed purple books and more that 10 musical instruments in text, we don't need to bother looking for anything now until round 2?
