I listened to the day 1 section last night and was surprised to find out I actually enjoy the humour parts; I usually hate humourous books lol.
Can't believe Swing isn't on scribd/everand (they changed their name) anymore, I saved it for a moment like this and now it's not available for me anywhere π©π© Solo I can at least still find as an ebook on both scribd/everand and my library - although the Libby app is currently not working for me either, and The Love Hypothesis is taking forever to come through too. I guess this just isn't my week/round,,,, I'm also back to being sick as well π« π€§

yeah same!! the first 50 pages or so I was like "idk if this is working for me" but then I started really liking it and thought it was pretty funny
Christina wrote: "Can't believe Swing isn't on scribd/everand (they changed their name) anymore, I saved it for a moment like this and now it's not available for me anywhere π©π© Solo I..."Nooooo π I hate when that happens!! hope you feel better soon!
(also the name change is sooooo annoying and I hate the bright yellow app symbol on my phone)
Hope you both feel better soon Robin & Christina! It's just that horrible time of year and everything seems to be hitting harder this year than before :( I can get swing from my library, I've had it on my tbr for like a year at this point just always had other things that worked for challenges more (and wasn't dying to get to it) so I'll grab it for both bonuses. I'll get to it probably later this week or next :)
I need to start Start Villain as well - it feels like something I'd enjoy but keep putting it off!
Judy wrote: "(also the name change is sooooo annoying and I hate the bright yellow app symbol on my phone)"The bright yellow is AWFUL :(
I think I read Solo years ago and am pretty sure I've had Swing on my library TBR ever since... guess I should pick that up too π
I've been trying to find a book with an instrument on the cover and that works for E (or ideally U) that I have access to - this really shouldn't be as hard as it's turning out to be π
Honestly finding instruments shouldn't be this hard but I have so few! I don't think I've found an E yet either :(
yeah... I'm going through those lists and barely anything is remotely appealing and it's all stuff in KU (which I currently don't have) or not even available at the library or on formerly-known-as-Scribd :(
You know when you read completely different books and then two or more in a row have super similar moments? Both Das wirkliche Leben and Swing go into Marie Curie's life and death
Judy wrote: "You know when you read completely different books and then two or more in a row have super similar moments? Both Das wirkliche Leben and Swing go into Marie Curie's ..."I've been in that scenario a couple of times.. It's like a dejavu..
Also I found this one,
, it's an E author with guitar on cover. I'll be reading this, I can somehow relate with the story π
Alyana wrote: "Also I found this one,

I put some random romance novel title word starting with U into scribd and ended up finding Undone By You which isnβt exactly good, but a quick read AND gives us a U
Judy wrote: "Keli, can you make sure Piranesi is on your shelf? Thanks! :)"Sure thing. All good now.
Aoife wrote: "Alyana wrote: "I think the T in Piranesi is The Other."that would make sense lol thank you!"
I'm assuming it works. It's not capitalised but he is never referred to without the article. And Piranesi's index is "other, the," followed by what ever else.
All my books set in Japan came through yesterday from the library :( if only they came through on time...
Turns out I've got covid y'all π© let's hope the second time around will be a quickie like yours was Judy (during TT, right?!) you're my inspiration ππ»
Oh no π© hope you get well soon!! During the first round of wheel, actually! My 48 hour covid π hope it'll be a quick one for you too!
Wait Judy that was only a few weeks ago? It honestly feels like MONTHS but then again can I rely on my mind at all currently? Big No lol. It's already past the 48-hour mark for me though, even if I didn't test until today "just to be sure" - I really thought it was just a bad cold :(
yes lol 4 weeks ago π
if it helps I did have (a pretty bad case of) covid during TT last year take care and rest up!!
π¨ UPDATE π¨As expected, here's the adjustment to the round 3 bonus challenges.
Cover colors
Instead of 5, we are now getting a bonus for 10 blue covers! Which we've already got, so that's amazing π
Instruments on cover
Instead of 10, we can now get a bonus for 20 instruments! So keep them coming, we definitely want to max out on these!
I've had a look at my calendar for the next week and... it's bad! We're supposed to get a massive translation project at work on Monday which will eat up a lot of my time, plus I'll be travelling quite a bit! Going to Stockholm on Wednesday, spend all day there Thursday with a friend and go to the NHL game there in the evening, then on Friday we're going to my friend's place in Finland and to a concert in the evening... staying there over the weekend (where I'm also going to have to make time for work :/) and only getting back home the Tuesday after. So realistically, I don't know if I'll be able to read let alone finish a single book in that time... which means I've decided to do a readathon this weekend to get in as much as possible before all hell breaks loose.
So here's my TBR of the books I definitely want to finish:
- Blackbird Fly (instrument!)
- These Are Not the Words (instrument!)
- Time to Shine
- Iris Kelly Doesn't Date
A few maybes:
- Unveiled (U!)
- Operation Sisterhood (instrument!)
- Bright (instrument!)
Christina hope you feel better soon! Lots of rest and taking it easy πJudy that's a really busy week! Hopefully you get to sleep somewhere in there as well lol
I'm hoping to find more instrument books and get to them this week we'll see what my library has!
Aoife wrote: "Judy that's a really busy week! Hopefully you get to sleep somewhere in there as well lol "Can't lie, it's not looking good lmao - work Tuesday until midnight, gotta get up at 4:30 for my 7am flight on Wednesday, Thursday night is the hockey game so no sleep before midnight either and an 8:30am flight on Friday (haven't yet figured out when we're getting up/leaving), late shift on Sunday until midnight and a 7:30am bus to Helsinki on Monday π
I will survive π€
Aoife wrote: "The Commitments - realised this is actually over a year so I can get the reread in!"Picked it up from the library, let's see if there's a chance I'll get to it π

Woah Judy, that's one of a crazy schedule! Take it easy and get some sleep whenever you can!

I will warn you - it's written like someone from north Dublin speaks and is very Irish of the early 90s! Would recommend the movie (and the whole trilogy, they're great criac and accurate of Ireland especially inner city)

Little bit of an update on my mini readathon... miraculously, I've actually finished three of the books on my TBR! and then I ended up reading two things for Us instead of instrumentsFinished:
- Blackbird Fly (instrument!)
- Time to Shine
- Undenied (U!)
- These Are Not the Words (instrument!)
- The Uncommon Reader (U!)
Still reading:
- Iris Kelly Doesn't Date
I've also just started Unmasked by the Marquess, we'll see how that's going to go...
π¨
UPDATE
π¨We've already read 69 books for this round, which is amazing!
We've currently finished 11/20 instrument-on-cover books, 3 more are claimed. That means we need six more to get maximum bonus points!
We're also currently for once not desperate for U books, but it also never hurts to have a couple backups just in case we end up finishing way more books than in the previous two rounds π
Cover colors: we've already got way more than the max, so no need to look for more blue covers

Hope you're feeling better soon, Robin! Are your meds helping at least?
A friend of mine has been dealing with bronchitis for weeks now and even ended up on antibiotics because the meds didn't take - which reminds me, I better check in and see how she's doing!
