Oh no 😔 it's really the season for the big sniffles 🤧
My headache is back again too, and I accidentally had one bite of gluten today which basically NEVER happens because I know what I can and cannot eat but FUCK WHY DIDN'T I PAY CLOSER ATTENTION???? and y'all probably think "it was just one bite, what's the big deal 🙄" but unfortunately it is a really big deal as I've got celiacs disease and really really never under any circumstances should ever have gluten :/ fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkkHope you're feeling better soon, Robin!
Anyway these are the instrument on cover books I saved on scribd a while ago:
First two are MPG Childrens but are 30,000+ words so definitely do work, and the last one is a memoir/NF so only works for letters SJH - unfortunately none of the letters in Wagner Tuba, but if listening to the audio it also works for EW!
more options:
I'm sure we'll be able to cover the blue covers next round easily, but since one of them has a U author and the other I should still read for my popsugar challenge, do we think these are blue??
Christina wrote: "My headache is back again too, and I accidentally had one bite of gluten today which basically NEVER happens because I know what I can and cannot eat but FUCK WHY DIDN'T I PAY CLOSER ATTENTION???? ..."oh no!!!! I hope it'll be fine :(

The second one for sure, the first one I'm saying mayyyybe (tineye calls it blue so maybe I'll for once agree with them lol)

I decided to put Puddin aside to finish next round, and focus on a quick cozy mystery set in Vienna instead so we'd have another setting bonus. Unfortunately we didn't cover nearly as many as we could have and are missing out on lots of bonus points there :/
I'm trying to get a Berlin one done before the deadline too but I haven't figured out which letter it works for yet (Christina, if you know characters except Emil in Emil und die Detektive, let me know 😂) But first I gotta start & get to my section of Starter Villain to do DQs today 😅
I don't think I'll get Harrow done - my head is KILLING me since last night and i don't have the brain power for a book like that rn :(
I'm going to try and complete Desperation for the letter D. I have a little over 300 pages left, but I'm going to give it my all to wrap it up before the round ends. I don't think I'll get Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China done though – so I'm going to park it for Round 3
Christina wrote: "Keli, while checking your shelf I saw you finished Starboard Secrets on Oct 21. Do you happen to remember if you finished it before or after the countdown to Round 2 hit 0?"I finished it at 12:45pm gmt on the 21st. I'm not sure if that's before or after the countdown
So I'll get Murmur of Bees and piranesi finished tonight. As I have to read Discount Armageddon by 4pm est Saturday. It will probably be down to the wire, I think will be in this round. I'll shelve it and try to get it posted.
Keli, any chance you'd hold off finishing Piranesi until the deadline tomorrow? It's a blue cover with a flute on it so we could max out the bonus...(if there are any character names that are going to work for WAGNER TUBA, that is - the Goodreads summary isn't giving us much in that way)
🚨
UPDATE
🚨We've got the maximum number of red covers and have reached the minimum of cities we need to travel to, with a few additional ones!
So far, we've spelled out HARPSICHORD seven times with one more in progress and a couple more books for another partial. A bunch of you have already checked in and let us know what you'll plan on finishing before the end of this round. Would be good if everyone could do that!
ℹ️ ROUND 3 INFO
Our next word is WAGNER TUBA!
Cover color: blue
Bonus challenge
For round 3, we'll be looking for instruments on the cover! Christene has already shared a few lists and Christina also made some suggestions.
- only 1 bonus word per book
- max. 10 bonus words (50 bonus points)
- any instrument, just needs to be clearly recognizable
- repeats are okay
There might be additional info on the bonus challenge coming in the next few days, same as for round 2, based on team performance in round 2. (I expect it to be similar to round 2, so the more instruments on covers we can find, the better!)
Keli wrote: "Christina wrote: "Keli, while checking your shelf I saw you finished Starboard Secrets on Oct 21. Do you happen to remember if you finished it before or after the countdown to Round..."ok so that was before the countdown so would have worked for last round unfortunately, not the current one :/
as a reminder, the cutoff is 9pm GMT tomorrow and we captains have 30 mins after that to lock everything in.
And additional reminder for those of you in the US: we're already on winter time in Europe, so 9pm GMT is not the same time as it was two weeks ago! Check the spreadsheet for a countdown to be safe 😉
Judy wrote: "I'm trying to get a Berlin one done before the deadline too but I haven't figured out which letter it works for yet (Christina, if you know characters except Emil in [book:Emil und die Detektive|63..."Going by reviews it looks like there's a friend/cousin called Pony Hütchen?! (assuming it isn't an actual pony lmao)
^ I'll check if one of my two libraries has the ebook or rather an audio for it to quickly get through tonight as well!
Ah I just remembered there's a movie with a cast list, and Pony Hütchen indeed seems to be a person 😂

Sure thing. I just need to have it read by the 6th.
I've just finished Murmur of the Bees and will halt Piranesi until Sunday. So Discount Armageddon will be my last book.
I finished Vengeance in Vienna and am done for this round as I will be at work all day tomorrow and can't squeeze in anything else at this point :(
Aoife wrote: "I don't think I'll get Harrow done - my head is KILLING me since last night and i don't have the brain power for a book like that rn :("Hope you'll be feeling better tomorrow and are able to enjoy your birthday :)
Hi all, I don't think I can finish How To Walk Away by the end of this round. I will be out all day tomorrow. I will put it for next round.
Alyana wrote: "Hi all, I don't think I can finish How To Walk Away by the end of this round. I will be out all day tomorrow. I will put it for next round."I stand corrected, I might be able to finish this by the deadline. :)
^ Ha, good thing I didn't move it last night! Would definitely be great for this round with the setting :)
Thank you all!! :D I'll be gone this evening but will finish Curse the day this morning before I head out
Christina wrote: "^ Ha, good thing I didn't move it last night! Would definitely be great for this round with the setting :)"I finished it! Woohoo!!
And thanks everyone for checking in, I had a super busy workday but have the next three hours on the train to finish my last book (we'll see about the other one I've got on the spreadsheet... I'm gonna give it a shot but I'm not optimistic)
🚨 Round 3 has started 🚨Now you can finish those books you were maybe saving for this round 😋
We ended up reading 101 books during this round, travelling to 19 cities - great job team!
Looking at our planning spreadsheet and it's finally becoming real that we need even more Us this time around... if you've got anything at all for the letter, please go ahead 🙃 I've already exhausted my TBR for round 1 and don't have many more passable books lined up so it'll be a struggle
Hey Team! Sorry I'm not keeping up very well😨 as I'm still really🤧🤒 This CRUD has taken me down--it's awful. Major lack of energy, SUPER tired, and for some reasons my muscles are achy and VERY weak. It's really weird -I feel worse with whatever this is than I did when I had Covid.
Did the new round start on November 4th or November 5th? I will be adding my books from the last couple of days later today as I have several to add.
Please bear with with me as I'm basically just taking meds, sleeping, reading, randomly popping in to GR and resting!
ETA: I will take a look at what I got/can get as I may have some "U" books.
