Aoife | 238 comments We have seven finished words with 28 bonus words found and 9 red covers!

We have a few more books left for the last word

VOM are finished and ILS are waiting for the remaining 3 books on the SS to finished (funnily by all captains lol)

If you have a short book that works for any of the leftover letters let us know or if this is you done for the round! Remember we can only have 1 unfinished before deadline tomorrow evening.

A x2
O x2
P x2

Alyana | 1064 comments I'm almost done with my O book and I think that is my last book for this round. I checked our team sheet and we need MORE O's next round! 😮

we're currently debating a respin to avoid this... could be worse, but could also free us from all those Os PLUS the brown cover...

I'd prefer an O than X lol

message 555: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments I'm so tired of searching for O's BUT the bom has an O character so it's a tough one!!

message 556: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments The chaos of a respin is tempting

message 557: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments Who knows, there might still be an O if we respin x)

message 558: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Alyana wrote: "I'd prefer an O than X lol"

I agree hahaha but I do have a book out from the library right now that works for both.....

message 559: by Alyana (new)

Alyana | 1064 comments Devil's Peak (Benny Griessel, #1) by Deon Meyer - is this brown?

message 560: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments Less than 24 hours to go in Round 4!

Please let us know if you'll be finishing any more books until then, and we'll share our new word as soon as we have one :)

message 561: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Today went off the rails a little but I'll finish the Violin Conspiracy for sure tomorrow. I'm also a decent chunk through The Loner and hope to finish that before the deadline (it has... grunge ? in it!)

message 562: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments I ended up listening to another A book on the way home from a concert thing tonight lol traffic is good for one thing!

message 563: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments Put up my Christmas tree after work (although there's only Christmas lights on it so far and I don't even like them this year - kinda wish I had yellow/warm lights instead of white/cool ones, but I'm not sure warm lights even go with a white christmas tree and pastel pink and blue baubles??), finished reading we fell in love in october which will also be my last book for this round, and then I updated our spreadsheet with our new word for round 5. I expected something more fun ngl but the instrument itself, quite intruiging and mesmerizing if you ask me!

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments 🚨 UPDATE 🚨

Once Judy finishes The Voilin Conspiracy we've got the maximum number of red covers and have found 29 music genres in the text of our books. There are a few more claimed, but if you've got more that'd be great too.

So far, we've spelled out VIOLA POMPOSA seven times with another one in progress.
We have about 19 hours to go so please check in with us and let us know if you still plan on finishing anything before the end of this round.

ℹ️ ROUND 5 INFO

Our next word is ERHU

Cover color: GREY

Bonus challenge

The instruments have been gathered, genres played, bands formed, and world tours commenced. Now it's time to read the stories, fact and fiction of the musicians.

Read books written by or about musicians. This could be non-fiction about a musician or band; or it could be fiction - in which case the main character(s) should be a professional musician (or aspiring). Someone who plays an instrument for personal pleasure only does NOT count.

Each book read will earn an additional 5 bonus points and a maximum of 10 bonuses.

- Again, there might be additional info on the bonus challenge coming in the next few days, but we'll see.

message 565: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Well, it's no Os but this might be even more challenging!

I have a bad feeling none of the books I was hoping to read next will work for this round, so I've just scrolled my library's U section once again and marked all the ones with grey covers...

message 566: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments The next BOM is also starting today!

The Lost Bookshop - thread here

As always, if you are in any way interested in the book, it'd be awesome if you read the book and participated in the discussion! These points are super valuable to our overall total :)

message 567: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Well, I was supposed to go to a football game today but it snowed 40cm overnight and everything is shut down (airport + trains), I don't even know if the opponent travelled here yesterday or were going to do it today lol

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments oooohhh nice Judy *_*

message 570: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Since my plans for the day have completely changed, I'm going to knock out one more O book (that I can't use for next week's letters and have already started)

Hopefully we can finish one more word so we can use all the books!

message 571: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments I wish I could help out in reading a quick P or A book today to finish the spell-out but as always on Saturdays and Sundays I'm at work all day long :/

message 572: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Okay, I've done a bunch of shuffling and managed to fit all our finished books in! So now we've got no leftover stragglers!

With mine and Aoife's books on the spreadsheet, we'll end up with 8 full spell-outs

message 573: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments I'll have mine finished by this evening :) just started1

message 574: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments Round 4 has finished! We got the final Viola finished and logged in with all 10 covers and 30 words in books! Very proud of is for that :D

Now on to the fifth and final round - Erhu!

I'm going to work through a few U books I've had on my tbr and easy to listen to without thinking much so can listen away at night. Not sure which letter be harder - I feel like I have few H books.

The Lost Bookshop is the BOM from today and we were picked for DQs again this round! Works for Es as well

Keli | 1319 comments I've downloaded The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant (Fred, the Vampire Accountant, #1) by Drew Hayes and TinEye says it's 69.7% grey.
I'm going to try to go out with a bang and read as many as possible.

Grey enough for me! And a U! Dream combo! 😍

Cheering you on 💪

message 577: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I've started the BOM and... I knew it wasn't going to be my taste but it's already so tedious - and Scribd is being mean to me so I can't even switch to the audiobook from time to time 😩

That's a shame because it sounds really good.

Keli | 1319 comments I've got three more U titles, not too.

Judy | 4065 comments Keli wrote: "That's a shame because it sounds really good."

I'm pretty sure it's more of a me problem than the book's! So I'm sure most people will enjoy it

Awesome!

message 582: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments That was a slog to finish Undead & unwed 🙄I was hoping for something a little more fun... Oh well!

message 583: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Aoife wrote: "That was a slog to finish Undead & unwed 🙄I was hoping for something a little more fun... Oh well!"

Yeah 😬 I really wasn't a fan either and can't make myself continue the series... despite the tasty Us...

message 584: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments I was thinking I could just bang out a load of Us with the series but i think I'll just look for other ones and they can be a back up 😶 we do seem to have a decent number of Us already tho!

message 585: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments If we read another 100 or so books, we'll need at least 25 though 🫠 no such thing as enough or too many Us in this round, I'm afraid

message 586: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments This is true... and with the numbers from the last rounds we will need at least that amount of Us..... guess I might be reading some more of them 😢

message 587: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments I started the BOM during commercials while watching TV last night and I got so confused about the sections (thought Day 1 was until chapter 19, but it's ch12 - 19% lol) that I ended up pushing myself through the rest of Day 2 as well.
I am enjoying it actually, although I do think 3 POVs might be a bit much...

message 588: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I'm already dreading getting to section 2 (and maybe 3) today... I just think the writing is not good at all 😬

message 589: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments I got the audio so I've been going back and forth from the physical book and listening which has helped! It's easy enough to follow along with the different voices.

That's annoying you're not liking it Judy :( I know the points are good but if you really don't like it maybe dnf?

I am liking it (which honestly I usually am so critical of things set in Ireland) but there are issues with the story. I did think the start was the worst bit tho, it got better as it went on

message 590: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments God I wish I could switch! Hahaha

I'm 30% in at this point, at least it's an easy enough read... I will persevere 😤💪 really hoping I feel the same as you and it'll get better!

message 591: by Aoife (new)

Aoife | 238 comments It is a very easy read so maybe it could be something to psuh through at the end

I still don't get why you can't listen to the audio - it works for me on scribd without any issues... but like you said in the DQs, the characters are so interchangable even to me listening to the audio and having 3 different voices and accents, I don't know if it'd change much for you liking/disliking the book lol.

message 593: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Some book put me over that weird imaginary limit that you never know when it's going to hit you 😩 luckily I could get the ebook from my library, but audio would help sooooo much

message 594: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3007 comments Oh no, sucks that happened! I can let you log in on my account if you want though, we'll just need to remember which chapter we stopped at lol

message 595: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments I think I'll be fine, but thanks for the offer!!

message 597: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments Judy wrote: "Keli, can you please add The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant to your shelf? :)"

All done. Thanks for the reminder, cos i forgot the other one too.

message 598: by Judy (new)

Judy | 4065 comments Awesome, thank you! Upright Women Wanted too, please ;)

message 599: by Keli (new)

Keli | 1319 comments I've got three more U titles lined up. Two will be knocked out fairly quickly. Well, I'm not sure how long Uncle Tom's Cabin is, but hopefully won't be more than a few days. Should I stick with U or move on to a different letter?

Given that we probably need at least 25 Us total, feel free to keep going!
