Awwww...you didn't like it. Was it the squirrels or the cutting off of her brothers hand? It is a strange book...I waivered on 4 or 5, but since it was the first horror book I actually liked, I went with 5.

None of the books I'm currently reading work for the minimum 50% color cover. Most common is probably blue. I have a black and a pink in the Q...but I could do whatever.
I will adjust to any color.
I have books that are orange, red and blue sitting on my Libby shelf.

I try to always give the classics the benefit of the doubt when rating because it's hit/miss for me on whether I enjoy the book. I didn't really care for this one. I need for 2 other challenges and was drawn to it because the author was born in St. Louis. The plot was definitely ahead of it's time so to speak and I imagine it's one of the reasons it's gotten so much acclaim.

All 4 novella's in the anthology are historic fiction by NYT best selling authors. In four very loosely connected stories set from the 1730's to mid 1944, the link that binds the stories is a gold watch, cursed or blessed. As each story unfolds, the watch is always linked to chaos.
