Honestly, It didn't have much related to the plot according to me.

It was mostly about their personal lives and Natewyn etc etc.
Also it was really slow and according to the book they're supposed to be 17 and 18 but the way they were written made it seem as though they were 13-14 year olds.

But don't NOT read it based on my opinion.

Do order it. Who knows, it might turn out to be your favourite book.

Most of the book was about their personal lives and unrelated to the plot and the way they were written was 18 year olds but acted half their age.

It's the same with the cousins. I wanted a mystery book and trust me, I'm all for family -especially family drama.

But it BARELY had anything related to the plot. The first 200 pages were about how milly feels left out and the ending was plain.

I'm not even sure if there was a plot twist tbh.

rae (jurdan's version) Its was the first murder mystery ive read and now I love them soooo I actually really liked it but obviously everyone has their own opinions and I'm sorry you didn't like it :(

mak ⊹₊⋆ (maklacedwithlove) | 350 comments the plot was their personal lives; like it’s about their lies( which r about their personal lives ) and how they connect to simon and his murder.

Jayce | 10 comments all of her books (or at least the ones i've read lol) move in at a slower pace and put a lot of emphasis on the characters' personal lives and drama. they almost read like contemporary with a side of murder lol. i personally don't think it's a bad thing but i get why some people aren't into it. you should try a good girl's guide to murder instead!

message 11: by oyiii ✨ (new)

oyiii ✨ | 86 comments i think most people expect a really fast paced murder mystery that's why they end up disappointed, but all of the author's book are more charector driven and focused on the lives of the character than the mystery so if that's not your thing, don't read it

personally, i LOVED it it's one of my all time favourite books very few books made me care about the charectors as much as this one did

mak ⊹₊⋆ (maklacedwithlove) | 350 comments i wouldn’t say “don’t read it” but i would say it’s very odd for you to expect a fast paced book just because it’s a mystery then rate it badly for that alone.

message 13: by m (new)

m | 12 comments I read it after agggtm so I was expecting it to be more like that, but it was ok. Definitely not my favorite but not bad either. I haven’t read the rest of the series though, so idk if those get better

It was overhyped and I think I was disappointed when it wasn't what it turned out to be.

And yes It wasn't fast which I disliked.
But I especially did not like the writing.

Being slow wasn't the only reason I rated it so low.

natalie (taylor’s version) | 283 comments I agree with most other people when I say that I actually loved one of us is lying. It definitely wasn’t fast paced but I didn’t mind that and I liked how we learned about the characters personal lives. That’s just my opinion though, so I’m sorry that you didn’t like it :(

It's not only the pacing, all the other factors you said add up to it.
