Fall 23 Read-a-Thon: Team Iron
Hi everyone! The bad news is I have a stomach bug. The good news is my plans are all cancelled this weekend and maybe I’ll feel better and have tons of time to read?
Hi team. It's Saturday where I am. I started reading The Study of Poisons by Maria V. Snyder. It can fit a number of prompts.
What color counts as scarlet? The book I am reading is
this color. I am unsure if it counts or not. If not there are a lot of other prompts it fits. I just see that there were no options for this prompt.

Caitie wrote: "Hi everyone! The bad news is I have a stomach bug. The good news is my plans are all cancelled this weekend and maybe I’ll feel better and have tons of time to read?"May you find the perfect balance of getting better enough to read, but not enough to feel guilty about staying in.
Does anyone want me to repost the spreadsheet link? I know if you use the ap, the first post might be problematic.
All good with the link on my side. Getting in good audio hours while managing chores today. @Ira, definitely scarlet.
@Caitie, stomach bugs aren't fun. Hope you feel better soon!
Hi team ;)I plan to read a book of essays Om efteråret for Trivial Pursuit non fiction.
I am finishing Rilke poems - which will add 50 pages to eg Parcheesi; (square)
- A book that has circle, square, cube, or cross shape on cover
And just started The Wild Book which csn fill several prompts
Welcome Louise! I finished The Trees and added color to the prompt used. Hope that works, happy to undo it as well.
Hi team. Just finished The Study of Poisons by Maria V. Snyder. I put it under - A book whose cover is predominantly white, green, mustard yellow, plum, peacock blue, or scarlet.
Also finished The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Such drama! I travel tomorrow for work and will have less time for audio so I'm glad to get that one done. Hope others are having a good weekend and finding good reads!

This is such a lovely sentiment!

Did you love it? One of my favorite books from last year!
Mod Note: Pages read and hours listened are working a bit differently this Read-a-Thon. You must accrue "rolls" in order to officially fill prompts - which means each prompt read needs one book and one roll in order to mark it as completed. You earn rolls by reading 500 pages or 10 audio hours as a team. You assign rolls by marking a "1" in the Rolls Used column next to the prompt. This will tally on the Rolls tab on your spreadsheet, so you can keep track of how many rolls you have available and how many you have used. If you have any questions, please post on the Team Challenge Intro and FAQs thread!
Mod Note: (Hopefully this is the last one lol) I have lowered the requirements to earn rolls. It is now at 400 pages or 6 hours of audio. Your spreadsheets have already been updated!

It was really good! As enjoyable as possible being about lynching. The humor and absurdity were fabulous and I appreciate the shining light on such an important part of US history.
Today I’m reading A Man Called Ove, My Autobiography of Carson McCullers, and The Bromance Book Club. Will hopefully make progress or finish at least one of them!

How did you like it? I loved the beginning and end, but I found the middle diary-section tedious.

I did like it. It was fascinating to go so deep into the heads of those in that era. I agree that the middle got tedious. I think I checked my progress at one point and couldn't believe how many hours were still left. They all seemed so extreme and honestly I wanted even Gilbert to leave her alone in the end.
Hi team. This weekend has been an audiobbok weekend for my part. I received some ikea furniture to install in my house so i found it very relaxing listening to an audiobook while working. That meant that did no psysical reading, bt I am very happy with my weekend as a whole. I am now reading The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman and For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway
@Ira, I did the same on Saturday, put together a bookshelf and listened to audio. It is satisfying!Finished two on my first flight,
, used the circle of the button on her trousers. Then I did a lighter palate cleanser of urban fantasy before starting Demon Copperhead.
Didn't finish any books on Sunday but read a lot of The Bromance Book Club at the Seahawks game (lol). Hoping to make more progress after work today!
I finished Angel and put it for a book featuring a wedding or childbirth.I've just put a couple books on hold for "Set in India." Hopefully they'll come in quickly.
Hi, team! I just finished Going Solo, and autobiography by Roald Dahl. I initially put it in the Trivial Pursuit>Non-fiction, but it can also go to :Parcheesi>Royal character
Parcheesi> Two-word title
Risk> 2 countries
Risk> Military
Trivial pursuit> history
My next read is Nettle & Bone
Hi team. I finished reading The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman. I put it under - A book with a character of retirement age.
Finished All Grown Up. I put it under - a book whose page count contains any combination of 2,3, and 4.
Hi team, I finished The Sense of Wonder and used it for Trivial Pursuit for Sports. @Ana AZ, I really enjoyed Nettle & Bone and hope you do too!
I finished both Longbourn & Almost Just Friends and I used them for the set in 2 countries and military character prompts.
Finished Zuleika Dobson and used it for "two-word title."Just started The Taste of Ginger, which is set in India.
I just finished Swing and the ending kind of wrecked me. I used it for the 'character makes a mistake' prompt, so we now have complete Clue.
I finished My Autobiography of Carson McCullers last night and put it as a book that takes place in college (the author was a student). I also thought I added a comment saying I finished A Man Called Ove but I must have forgotten to hit post :) I just added it as a character who gets or changes a job.
Well, I finished Freaks, Gleeks, and Dawson's Creek: How Seven Teen Shows Transformed Television and I used it for the Art& Entertainment prompt. But we're out of rolls, so we need more pages read before we can finish off the prompts.
I finished Strange Weather in Tokyo and put it under a book with a character of retirement age. So I marked that in green since it's starting our second Game of Life. I hope to finish The Taste of Ginger for a book set in India tomorrow.
Jen K wrote: "...@Ana AZ, I really enjoyed Nettle & Bone and hope you do too!"I did really like it! I'm a sucker for fairytale vibes. Gave it 4 stars.
Also put it down for Parcheesi>A book that contains a royal character. We have negative 1 rolls though

It is such a fun one too! Glad you liked it!
I finished Even Though I Knew the End last night and used it for the history prompt (It's historical fiction) so we now have one of everything except for Parcheesi. Way to go Team Iron!
I finished The Taste of Ginger for the set in India prompt. So we've completed everything once! I'll be adding my pages/hours soon.
Kathy wrote: "I finished The Taste of Ginger for the set in India prompt. So we've completed everything once! I'll be adding my pages/hours soon."Nice! Congrats to us
Nice work everyone!!! So satisfying to finish all the categories. I finished Demon Copperhead and used for 2 word title. Happy to move if we decide to focus on a different game.Started a lighter, faster read.
I finished Mapping the Interior in one day. It was a weird little horror book. I think I could benefit from a second reading of this because it was very different from the other horror books I've previously read. For now, it's 3 stars.I put it down for Game of Life>A book that centers on a family
I'm starting On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong. I'm only a few pages in but I love it so far!
