YA novel- Main character Jonathan? gets left behind by a cruise ship?

A YA book I read in junior high years ago but I can only remember small bits from-
I believe the main characters name was Johnathan? and I think he comes from money?
He’s on a cruise ship or some kind of ship? and accidentally gets left behind (or something like this) at a port and he either meets a girl there or she is also from the cruise ship?

I know it’s so vague (maybe this book was a fever dream)
the details have disappeared over the years :(

Does anything on the Cruise Ship YA list look familiar?

It doesn't match by much, but I thought of The Last Ditch by K. M. Peyton. Jonathan Meredith is sailing in the Greek islands with his wealthy family. Also on board is Iris, a girl from his school, who has neglectful parents and a crush on Jonathan. She persuades him to make love to her, and claims she's on the pill; but lies because she wants his baby.
