Oh Em... You want some challenges? Come see us over at A Million More Pages (AMMP) or our sister group Game Night!!
And they're looking for replacement players in this challenge at The Challenge Factory Halloween Roundup 2.0
And sign-ups are open at Nothing But Reading Challenges (NBRC) for Wheel-a-thon 8
There are never a shortage of challenges, my friend!!!

I forgot, you probably can't see that thread without signing up to the group. Sorry about that.
Your team will be tasked with reading book chains to capture (aka "chain" up) up to 7 Halloween creatures. Each creature will need to be chained up by both arms and legs (4 chains of 3) to be considered captured. Some creatures have special requirements so be sure to read the directions! This is a team challenge. My recommendation is that you can read a minimum of 1 book per week.*
Rules
🧛Each monster has specific chains that need to be completed.
Examples:
1. Create a chain of 3 using titles consecutively (ABC)
-All the Light We Cannot See
-Becoming Mrs. Lewis
-Catching Fire
2. Create a chain of 3 with "dog" in the titles
-Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike
-The Dog Stars
-Hot Dog Girl
🧛One person should NOT complete a whole chain by themselves. This is a team challenge. However, if a monster has multiple chains and a slower reader can only/want to only read for 1 or 2 chains (they must read at least one), then the other two faster readers on the team can complete the other chains between the two of them.
🧛You may choose which creature to capture first but you MUST complete it BEFORE starting a new creature.
🧛You may use or drop articles: A, An, The
🧛If you somehow manage to incorporate a Formal Buddy Read book into a chain, you will earn 2 bonus points. See the buddy read folder for the current book. They are also listed in the spreadsheet dropdown list (when your team has a thread & spreadsheet assigned to them).
🧛Books should be a minimum of 140 pages

☕Week #1: Read a book written by two authors
☕Book: Sweet Filthy Boy by Christina Lauren
☕Date Read: 22 -26 September
☕Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
☕Review:
Finally finished this book. Pity I read this as I struggled through a book hangover from my other genres account. I really wanted to try Christina Lauren again because I had heard so many good things about the duo. I started Beautiful Bastard a while ago as my intro to their writing and DNF'd at around 40%. Hot steam aside, I just couldn't connect with the characters.
Enter Sweet Filthy Boy. I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it but I'll settle for nice like a cup of cocoa with whip cream but no sugar. I did connect and I fell in love briefly. Ansel is weirdly adorable. I did enjoy the humor at times. By the third act I wasn't as invested as I was going into the story and by the ending I was underwhelmed.

So, what you do is the following: you copy the HTTPS of your book and copy instead of the https:// Goodreads, and where >my link text< I usually put the title of the book. That's the way you a link straight to the book that you are reading.

☕Week #2: 12. Latte Art - the decorative surface pattern on Flat Whites or Lattes Read a book with a drawn cover
☕Bookcover/link: The Bodyguard by Katherine Center
☕Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.75
☕Review: The Bodyguard is the second book by Katherine Center these couple of weeks. I greatly enjoy her writing and look forward to reading her new and old works.
Hannah and Jack are beautiful, and I want a romantic story about Hank, Jack’s brother.
Interestingly, the idea of making the woman a bodyguard is certainly unexpected. The other reason I liked it so much is because there are so many positive messages intertwined in this story; I would appreciate more authors doing it.
Seeing how someone who seems to have it all can have struggles that the world doesn’t see was beautiful.
I had to reduce a quarter of a star because I found the plot with many cliches. In some parts, I couldn’t even connect with Hannah.

☕️ Review: I really enjoyed this series and recommend it. This was the last book in the series. I liked the characters and the plot, BUT she took too long to reveal the main plot point that was foreshadowed over and over again. Every time you thought "this is when he finally just says it"... just kidding, you have to wait longer. Not only did the character not know the secret, but unlike other books I have read, the reader was also not told the secret. That was double the amount of annoyance I felt. However, I did still like the book and enjoyed the whole series.

Steamy Indiana-Jones Style Adventure but make it Sassy with sexy Dragons
I've come a long way from wanting to throw the first Mead Mishaps book right out the window when I'd first started reading it. The writing style had thrown me off completely and it seemed ridiculous having just come out of a heavy Sci-fi/SF bender and it being my 3rd Romance book ever. But I stayed the course and now I am practically addicted to this low-stakes series.
This can't be the end. There are more monsters onboard the Banshee who would love to find their mates. There are more adventures to be had. Alexis is still out there talking trash and slicing up enemies. I can't deny I would read a few more Fallon or Dante lead adventures any day.
Favorite scene/concept/quote:
♡♡♡♡♡ Family Reunion!
♡♡♡♡“I can’t kill you; you smell like flowers,” (Dante on finding Cherry) oh and Stupid dragon slut venom
♡♡♡The Magic 3d holographic map of all things.
♡♡Unicorn medicinal and healing properties
♡Rebekah the little white cat
Unintentional Cringe: -1 the snapping gators, jumping jaguars, Holy filé powder, hissing puma etc etc and other curses in all the books. Don't know why but it just grates my nerves.

Review:
I've had this book on my TBR for awhile and just haven't had time to pick it up. It was a quick read but life was in the way and I had to keep putting it down. I liked the chemistry between Aaron and Catalina. I'm not sure if I would really call them enemies to lovers but everyone has a different point of view. I'm going to put another book by this author on my TBR to see if she needs to be added into my rotation. For a debut book, this one was pretty good.

I wasn't to sure about this book as I started it. It seemed very rant-y and stream of consciousness, and the POV character, the 'mum', often contradicted herself in her musings. Which I guess we all probably do when we going through emotional struggles. Giselle, the mum, just had a baby with a rocky marriage, so adding hormones to the emotional struggles did make a bit of a roller coaster ride. In the end, I felt for her (as all moms probably would) and was rooting for her and Greg to 'get it right' as far as their marriage went.

All my prayers and sending you strength and hoping for your brother's safety in this time. I honestly didn't even know something of this scale could happen. I don't know what I can do to help - wish I could help in some way other than my words. Stay safe Avigail,

Thanks a lot for your thoughts and prayers. Now is only prey; send positive thoughts our way. Pass the information on and people should understand that Hamas is human, I saw photos and videos that nobody should see. But I don't want to make this group sad lets hope that this war will finish soon with fewer mourning families.

Still looking for selection posts from Vi and Sue (ForTheLoveofBrishen).
We have two weeks this call but if you can try to post those soon-ish, Jane the moderator will be happy :-)
ALL: I posted some reminders and requests in message 35
You may have missed it because it's sort of buried between other posts. In that post is my biggest
beggingrequest which is to please try to remember to include broken links with your selection posts. There is an example of how to do that in the post or you can see my first selection post in message 36 as an example. It may sound silly but when tracking, it is much more time consuming to have to add the book link of your book and then verify it's the exact edition you read by clicking on your book link to compare and change the link. If you have the broken link of the edition you read, it's just a simple copy/paste...
Thanks everyone!! Happy Reading!!
