Davi Melo | 4 comments A few years ago (2018 - 2019) I bought a book in a store in my hometown (Cataguases, city on the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil). I really wanted the book "The Lord of the Rings", but that bookstore didn't have it. Anyway, it was a very small town and the store wasn't that famous, so it's not surprising. Even so, I bought a book that the saleswoman said was extremely similar to the world of the aforementioned book. All said and done, the concept was very similar, from the names to the races and the setting itself. The book was about a girl who, when she was young, had her family attacked by soldiers. As a result, her father ran away with her (if I'm not mistaken, there was a river/stream on the way) to a village of elves, who basically looked after her until she reached an older age, when she discovered a sister and wanted to meet her again. Later in the book, they meet again. If I'm not mistaken, the main character was raised by her father and her sister by her mother. As you might expect, the two are "special" and sort of "connected". I know that the book was published between 2002 and 2018 and, if I'm not mistaken, the writer is also from Cataguases, Minas Gerais (but I'm not too sure). I've looked in many corners, even some very dubious ones. I've read this book, so the concepts are a bit "muddled" in my head, sorry for anything that sounds disconnected. I don't remember much about the cover, but if I'm not mistaken, it was either a tower, or a girl holding a sword.

Ky | 449 comments Luiz Fernando Ruffato de Sousa's name came up when I googled "famous people from cataguases" (in English). Is he the author you're thinking of? Here's the Wikipedia page in English that lists his works: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luiz_Ru.... The article is in English but all the book titles are in Portugese.

Luiz Ruffato for the link, not 100% if this is the right link.
