Some past themes I've liked were spooky-not-scary for October*; women creative team; first appearance in Big 52; banned comics; non-traditional art style/non-traditionally collected; Eisner winnersPast themes I would love to see back so I can participate this time around: big events; own voices; romance; sword and sorcery; fairy tale/folk tale/mythology adaptation
*I cannot emphasize enough how much I loved the spooky-not-scary theme in 2022. I'm not the biggest fan of horror imagery, which is pretty difficult to get away from when the medium is GRAPHIC novels. Plus, a lot of the challenge suggestions end up being horror-themed, which means that by October I've usually had my fill. So it's nice to have a lil break. Maybe this (or another) October we could fit in a specific Halloween theme, like books featuring spooky creatures, witchcraft, etc. or books about Halloween itself. Or just another spooky-not-scary!
Hard to try and come up with something that might be original and that you haven't read yet lol

Westerns!
Team ups! (that aren't Justice league or Avengers)
Alternate history!
Gods (or fake religions, that kind of thing)
👍👊

What have been some of your favorite past themes? Anything we haven't done yet that you've been waiting for? Let us know in the thread below.
The IRCB team will do the final selection of 2024 themes, but if your idea is chosen you'll get a special shout-out on the show and in that month's BotM thread!
