Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments You are not limited to the two chosen books. You may read any book within the theme "Books with a color in the title" if you prefer.

In order to receive a badge you must:
1. have read the book before or during September 2023.

2. discussed it in this thread. Discussion must be more than "I read the book and I liked it". Discussion requires something more substantial and analytical of what you read. Please elaborate on your thoughts on at least 5 of the following topics:
- Setting
- Characters
- Writing style
- Genre
- How the book made you feel
- Which parts stood out
- Did you/will you read more by the author
- Anything else related to the book you find worth mentioning

This can be done in one post after finishing the book, but preferably in a few posts while reading. Please refer to our group spoiler policy for further information.

3. Report that you have read AND discussed the book in the reporting thread (include a brief summary of what you thought of the book).

General Rules:
1. Please mark your spoilers with the spoiler tags along with mentioning what stage of the book you are at so other's don't get a nasty shock. Chapter numbers/titles are generally best as they are the same across all formats and editions. See our spoiler policy
2. The book may be combined with the Year Long Challenge, Topplers, and Monthly Challenges.

Happy reading!

It’s okay so far - reflective and introspective, more suited to listening for me so good thing I’m listening to it… Yes, lovely cover!

Lilisa | 2770 comments I finished Bitter Orange Tree. It is historical fiction and is set in present day U.K. The historical pieces are set in Oman and the Arabian peninsula and references other parts of the world such as India. It’s not a plot driven book, more contemplative about family history and their relationships as narrated by the MC, who basically serves as the narrator. It was an okay listen. My review:

christene_littlelibrary (cpaulanavarro) | 76 comments Just finished The Golden Enclaves the third and last book of Scholomance series by Naomi Novik. It was an action packed fantasy dark academia setting. Though I liked the 1st and 2nd book, the last book seems like full of happening and revelations that is quite overwhelming. Maybe it was just me. Loved the ending though. Review Here

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments I read Bone White for this challenge. I have had the book for a long time, so it was nice to have a chance to read it and cross it off the list.

Paul's twin brother, Danny, went missing. The last he'd heard from him was a year prior and he was apparently in Alaska. The news reported the confession of a serial killer in the area where Danny went missing, so Paul went to Alaska to give DNA and get some closure. (view spoiler)

Jenn | 3029 comments I read Orange Is the New Black. It has been moving from bookshelf to bookshelf for quite some time now, so it was nice to finally get around to it.

I had been hesitating for ages because I watched the first bit of the TV series and lost interest, but the book held me. It was refreshing that she owned her crime, and did her time as gracefully as she could. It was also interesting that she didn't sugar coat the racism and stereotyping that went on there.
I am glad that I finally had a chance to cross this one off the TBR.

I've been thinking on this one for years, and I still don't get it fully, but I totally agree with your comments on setting and ambiance.

Janice (jamasc) | 59890 comments I don't understand all the 4 and 5 stars for Bone White. I feel like I missed something.

I hear ya there, the setting and ambiance is the only thing that got it up to a 3 star for me :(
