Gareth | 166 comments I think it'd be really great if we could do a mini challenge in memory of Sir Terry Pratchett. So the challenge is a simple one, read a book written by Sir Terry Pratchett. Whether you've read loads of his books before or like me where you'd like to read more it'd be great if we could all read something and remember such a great author as a group!

If anyone has any ideas for making the challenge a little more interesting suggest away! I couldn't think of anything despite trying to

Gareth | 166 comments I've only read The Color of Magic but http://io9.com/how-to-read-terry-prat... has a pretty cool image showing where to start with different story archs. All of them can be read as stand alones as well

Surprisingly, I've never read Pratchett but have ways intended to get into the Discworld series at some point. Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch was recommended very highly to me so I'll join this challenge with that one.

Great idea, Gareth! I know Terry Pratchett leaves behind a rich legacy and many, many fans.

Amy | 106 comments I've only just started reading the Discworld books as they were on my to-read for this year, and I'm basically just reading them in "order" - just finished the colour of magic and now on to the light fantastic. He is hilarious!

This is a great idea! I've been wanting to read more of Discworld.

Maybe there could be different levels to the challenge based on the different 'collections' within the Discworld series. E.g. read all of the Tiffany Aching, Death, City Watch, Witches, or Rincewind books. Or possibly read one from each of the sub-series to reach one level?

For those of you who haven't read any Discworld yet, I have a lot of GR friends who are fans and many of them suggest starting with Guards! Guards! or Mort. I guess they are good entry points to the world but I haven't read them yet. I started with the 'Witches' collection (Equal Rites).

I personally wouldn't recommend starting with The Color of Magic unless you're really anal about reading things in written order. A lot of people report finding it hard to get into.

It was terrific. So funny and smart. I can see why he was such a popular writer. <3
