Shan ~A~ wrote: "Love Par for the Corpse"Yes, me too. Will see what Vicki thinks when she arrived. I have tried sending her a message to let her know the teams have been posted, but we obviously haven't done any challenges together before as we aren't friends and it won't let me send an inbox.
I PMd Vicki. Whatever teams that haven't picked a monster when I am done handing out tasks will get Frankenstein.

Technically Frankenstein is not the name of this monster. It is the last name of his creator. He was created by Victor Frankenstein out of multiple corpses. He is 8 feet tall and proportionally large. His features are hideous as well with dull, watery eyes and yellow skin. Most people are scared of him and hate him on sight. He gave up hope of ever being accepted by humans. Then he decided that he had a right to happiness and Victor was to blame. He demanded that Victor create a female companion for him. Victor started to comply but had second thoughts. This angered him and he started killing people that Victor loved.
To catch Frankenstein complete the following tasks:
Arm 1: Create a chain of 3 using titles with a common word (all titles have "Dark" in them)
Arm 2: Create a chain of 3 using books with "CORPSE" in the title or series
Leg 1: Create a chain of 3 books with a monstrous character (your interpretation)
Leg 2: Create a chain of 3 using books with black covers (minimum 50%)
Clarifying Arm 1: Dark was an example. You may use any word except words like A, An, The, And, Or
Ever heard the saying "Ask and you shall receive"? Well, I had a question about Buddy Reads earlier. After some thought and some consultation with other mods, I have decided to give you the same bonus points for an informal buddy read as the TCF Group Read. Here are the rules:
*Your buddy must be on your team
*You may do a buddy read of 2 or 3 (as you have teams of 3)
*The book must fit one of your tasks, of course
To sign up for an informal buddy read click Here and a thread will be set up for you. This option will be added to the Group Read bonus dropdown in your spreadsheets shortly.

What common word do we want to use for Arm 1? Should it be something completely scary...like CLOWN!! I'm a Stephen King freak, so yes, I am absurdly scared of clowns.

Vicki wrote: "What common word do we want to use for Arm 1? Should it be something completely scary...like CLOWN!! I'm a Stephen King freak, so yes, I am absurdly scared of clowns."I can't think of a single book that has clown in the title or series name.
Unless you guys have some recommendations for something I get at the library??
Maybe something like Demon, Cruel, Evil, Vampire, Death, Dark, Dragon, wrong, undead, etc... (if we stay with scary words, even though some are not really scary😂)
or
Love, last, angel, never, etc...
Or we can list a few books we plan to read (3 or 4) to see if they have a word in common?

I am happy to go with any of these and maybe easier to find one of those words. Or even FEAR.
I will have a look through my kindle and see what I have to cover the other tasks.

Fear is a good one too. I honestly googled words because my brain wasn't working. I was just thinking I so many challenges of the team variety going on that I hope we can find an easier word that I can locate quickly for a book I may actually enjoy. I'll look through my books tonight to find things that work for the others.
@Jade I may do the same as you for corpse if I don't find anything else. I read book 1 ages ago and never proceeded with the series after that. Then again I may need to read that one again to refresh my memory.

As I said Pennywise doe it to me every time. I hate clowns, especially that one and his teeth.
I know that feeling, I have managed to signed up for the same challenge on two difference groups!! Its going to be a busy few months for me :)
I read it ages ago but can't for the life of me remember it so am trying to re-read the series as it fits into some other challenges I am doing at the moment. I have a digital copy of the book if you need one and can't find anything else.

Sorry guys I have been away for a few days and had non existence wifi. Manage to get 3 books finished and 50% way through the last one. Will update the SS now I am back home.
Done! I went ahead and checked us in. I picked Mummy, but do you guys want to do the monsters in a particular order after this?

Most mummies are associated with Egyptians but the oldest ones found have been the Chinchorro. They were found in what is now Chile & Peru. There are rumors that they placed curses on a pharaoh's tomb to protect his eternal rest. Superstitions and belief in magic are what make mummies so scary.
To catch the mummy complete the following tasks:
Arm 1: Create a chain of 3 using titles consecutively (Example: ABC)
Example chain: All the Light We Cannot See | Becoming Mrs Lewis | Catching Fire
Arm 2: Create a chain of 3 using books set in Egypt
Leg 1: Create a chain of 3 using books with the word "mummy" intact in the title or series
Leg 2: Create a chain of 3 using books starting with a letter in "CURSES" (You must decide as a team which letter to use and you must all use the same letter)
Arm 1: Create a chain of 3 using titles consecutively (Example: ABC)Example chain: All the Light We Cannot See | Becoming Mrs Lewis | Catching Fire
Open to whatever letters for this: About to start books beginning with letters "I" and "M", but can read something to work around what you guys may be reading or planning to read.
Leg 2: Create a chain of 3 using books starting with a letter in "CURSES" (You must decide as a team which letter to use and you must all use the same letter)
Either of these letters works for me

I am happy with any letters, I am just about between books at the moment so I have something that will work for all of the letters in my library. Let's see what Vicki is reading and if those letters work for her.
Hello! Sorry - I was out of town for a few days. I'm good with those letters, too. I will go through my books and update soon.

If you haven't read The Book of Two Ways, I highly recommend it. I LOVE that book!
Thank you! I need to spend tomorrow after work getting my weekend reading lined up. I'm completely behind.
Jade aka MrsTosh wrote: "Finished my book, will update the SS"I don't care which monsters we do in which order. I'm good with any of them!
Reminder: Everyone should read at least one task per monster. Nobody should read a whole chain by themselves. This is rule #1.

Rules
🧛Each monster has specific chains that need to be completed.
Examples:
1. Create a chain of 3 using titles consecutively (ABC)
-All the Light We Cannot See
-Becoming Mrs. Lewis
-Catching Fire
2. Create a chain of 3 with "dog" in the titles
-Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike
-The Dog Stars
-Hot Dog Girl
🧛One person should NOT complete a whole chain by themselves. This is a team challenge. However, if a monster has multiple chains and a slower reader can only/want to only read for 1 or 2 chains (they must read at least one), then the other two faster readers on the team can complete the other chains between the two of them.
🧛You may choose which creature to capture first but you MUST complete it BEFORE starting a new creature.
🧛You may use or drop articles: A, An, The
🧛If you somehow manage to incorporate a Formal Buddy Read book into a chain, you will earn 2 bonus points. See the buddy read folder for the current book. They are also listed in the spreadsheet dropdown list (when your team has a thread & spreadsheet assigned to them).
🧛Books should be a minimum of 140 pages
🧛Reading the monthly Group Read book for a task will earn you 2 bonus points.
Scoring
You will get 3 points for every completed book (9 per completed chain) PLUS page points.
