Invasive by Chuck Wendig

Mine are an innocuous non bitey type. They were after the honey which is a perfectly reasonable thing for ants to do but not in my house!! I confess to murdering a few dozen.
The aphid farming is fascinating though! I saw that happening for the first time in my garden last year. *So* organised.

The book summary is circumspect but the cover gives it away: ant invasion! Read the hardcover for a fuller experience, though if the audiobook includes sound effects it might be best (worst.)
Apparently this is the world of an earlier book, Zeroes, but maybe it's just the FBI agent Copper or the consultant Hannah because this is a complete plot and as an action-thriller there is no real character development or history to know. Sadly it's not even a futuristic universe, very much the same US as we are living in today.
There are a couple awkward scenes that don't fit the narrative, some improbable events which are expected in action media, but a page turner and fun read. Don't read in a backyard though, where there are certainly ants.
I was reading while growing corn and the ants were farming the aphids (organized!) and fighting off the ladybugs (winning!) and were extra terrifying.
