It was a reread for me so no surprises about the story, what surprised me, in a very, very positive way, was that I listened to the Spanish audiobook edition narrated by Javier Gutiérrez and it gave the book another 5 stars if possible. What a magnificient job!It was amazing!
This just didn’t do anything for me. I can appreciate the world building and the craftsmanship in the writing and all. I wanted to love it! High fantasy isn’t my genre.
I last read this back in junior high, and was pleased to revisit it.Four stars

This was much funnier than I remember it being. Glad that I reread it, but it doesn't have the flow or pacing of a book that could be a yearly reread. Still, it was very good, and I am glad to have had an excuse to revisit it.
After years of telling myself this book was not for me - it was meant for kids (it was likely meant for boys), I finally, in my [mumbles number] year, listened to this on audio. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think I would have struggled a bit with it in print, but the narrator, Rob Inglis, made this all work for me. I gave it a 4.
