If we move your Rizzio book for the page count of Anders Lindbeck OR Dale Pearson, we could finish one of them off.
For the solid colour cover, we could use my book

Sure thing! 😂

Of course!

The only fantasy of manners I can think of are the Austen books. Will see whether I can find an alternative.

Gilles de Rais (France)
1 651+
2 Takes place in France
3 MPG Children
4 1 and 4 in page count
5 published in October
Roots: The Saga of an American Family works for the page count. I’ll get it done by the end of TT one way or another.

(also TURF is restaurant themed this year, and I just can't help but think book titles with food or drink in them are going to come in handy!)

Does Roots have a character you'd consider wise Sophie? If so, it could easily go where I have Twenty years After, as it's definitely a classic, and I can move Dumas down for the page count & france
It has a couple of wise characters. The problem is that it’s depressing so I’m reading it v slowly.

Sirens
1 100 to 175
2 takes place on a boat or ship
3 character is deaf
4 Rope on cover
5 "Mermaid" in text

I also removed it from the other 2 tasks. So those need covering as well.
Just as an FYI, I'll be reading the latest Penric book, which is less than 150 pages, but not until after Towers (I'm in weird and wonderful countries mode now!)
Centaurs done!
Now is it going to be another short one or is it sufficiently close to the end of TT to unlease a chunkster?

Tomas and Tereza have come to spread their dubious take on love, but they are in favour of a short read.

As it's me, and as we are moving towards short for Turf Wars books, OF COURSE I spun

4 character works in construction or related job (carpentry, metal works etc)

I’m not planning to take part in Turf Wars so I’ll see what I’ve got unless someone has one on the go for the last week of TT.

If we sell in the next couple of weeks, the timeline for completion would put us at December. So I'll start packing up my books in november, and they will probably stay that way until Feb/March . Due to differences in the way english and Scottish house sales work, it'll be better for us to sell this one before buying the next. luckily completion in Scotland is generally only 4 weeks, rather than the 4 months in England!
luckily we can stay with either my parents or with my aunt in the meantime.
We've been live 24 hours, and have 4 viewings booked in for Fri-sat so far. Here's hoping for a quick sale with a wee bidding war (hey, a girl can hope! lol)
Fingers crossed that interest in viewings turns into bids nicely for you. Glad that the Scottish system for completions is more sensible than the English one so that you can get somewhere reasonably smoothly in the new year.

Running around like a loon getting everything ready for viewings tomorrow. easier said than done when the temps have been 30+ for several days now and any movement brings on much sweatiness 😂
