There are also a few flashbacks set on the Tasmanian mainland too.
We ok with using that for the task? I do have that other one possibly next month, but until I read it, I won't know how much of the book is set there.

Just for something different:
The Cunning Man
1 500 to 650
2 Fire on the cover
3 MC identifies as male
4 character is infatuated with someone/something
5 a hate crime is committed (your interpretation)

- BLOOD BATH (any order) found in title and/or series name
-takes place in Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, Poland or Czech Republic
-food item on cover
-500 to 650
-Fire on the cover
-MC identifies as male
-character is infatuated with someone/something
-a hate crime is committed (your interpretation)

ETA: found one set in Cuba

Maybe hate crime will be fitting as well. Need to read a bit further.

😁
Which one? (There must be several I'm trying to palm off on you. 🤭)

I can have a look for food on cover once I finish my current book this afternoon/evening.
Bother, no. It's Pendragon Legend, which is set in UK.
But I've the ability to switch up for one set in Hungary....

I'll finish, but struggling with it. One of the few Heyer books where she went for an infantile female MC and I kind of loathe her.
Also, my HOBART in title book will be a slow read as I need to wait for the current TT travel itinerary to complete before finishing that one.

I am feeling better, after a few days near death and then some more with malfunctioning brain...
Still a bit coughy and spluttery, but that's just annoying now

Glad you're heading in the right direction at least!

Sending you hugs!

❤️

I also found a fire on cover with a male MC, so I'll swap that one out Mel 😁

H. H. Holmes (Chicago)
1 500 to 650
2 Takes place in a state on the Great Lakes (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin)
3 author first and last initial is the same
4 character goes to fair, amusement park, carnival, etc
5 MC moved/moves to a new city/town

If not, I'm currently listening to one set in Poland.
I'm reading one by a Hungarian author but set in UK.... so Poland is excellent!
Really need to get the Berry Pickers BOM off my plate first though in any case.

Anula of Anuradhapura (Sri Lanka)
1 500 to 650
2 Takes place in Sri Lanka
3 A queen is important to the plot
4 Set somewhere that starts with the letter A
5 "poison" in text

What was the Sri Lanka book? Might be one I can pick up in a couple of days when I finish my current read (that doesn't work for any of the open tasks)
Also Sri Lanka: Brotherless Night, which was well written but also about the oppression of the Tamils and civil war / insurrection so not light hearted

Hungry Grass
1 100 to 175
2 MC mentions being hungry or finding food is important to the plot
3 Title starts with letter in GRASS
4 Someone finds a corpse
5 Tagged Fae (at least 10 times)

Hamlet
1. 350 to 450
2. skull on cover
3. takes place in Europe
4. author initials WS or SW
5. MPG school
