Sammy is a menace!

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Teehee.

Hopefully the UK one will have another sale soon. I'm getting itchy scratchy and need to buy books! (not that I'm allowed to, but meh... 😆)

Melindam | 8375 comments Oh, also bought The Princess Diarist b/c of .... Yes, Sammy 🥰 and b/c of tagged diary 16x for TT. So it's shared responsibility for this one. 🤭

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Don't you just love it when you move a book up your TBR to meet a challenge task and it turns out to be exactly what you needed to read at that moment?

A Toast to the Old Stones: A Tale from Kinloch made me LOL several times. Thank you Scotland task! 😆

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments While it seems wrong to celebrate such a thing, someone was just beheaded in my current book, so... Yay..? 😆

So, I finished Brotherless Night. currently in for a page count task, but could push Sophie's "The White Castle" for Historical Fiction out to finish a set?

Thoughts? Don't want to go unilaterally, as I am scarred from fall out of that in TT teams!

I'm currently reading a book set in Argentina, but it doesn't fit for anything else, so I won't hog anything yet :)

message 3664: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I'm on the Ukraine etc. task right now.

Just to be perfectly clear for future situations as far as I'm personally concerned: it is always ok to boot me out of a spot if you have something that will finish a set.
Even if I'm reading something specifically for a task, it won't normally taske me much more than a day, so I don't feel like I'd lose out much if it gets (re)moved (much more of an issue for slower readers, I imagine!).

I don't expect everyone else to feel the same - I know I read faster than most - but just wanted that out there so folk don't feel they need to hesitate if I'm in a spot they can use 😉

message 3665: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments You all get free pass to kick my books oit if you finish sth sooner. :)

message 3666: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments have grabbed the vampire task. dragons may be trickier!

Sophie (drsophie) | 5692 comments Mod
I'm chilled when it comes to my books being moved. I know I'm not the fastest reader here, but I get to chat with you all and my books are used often enough that I won't be upset.

message 3668: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Grabbing pirates with an audible freebie too.

Melindam | 8375 comments I can take page count for this.

message 3671: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I have a C author coming up, but won't get to it for at least a week, so will leave it open for now.

And of course I just read the only Florida book on my TBr a couple of weeks ago. 🙄

message 3672: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10122 comments Mod
I've got author born in Africa covered :)

message 3673: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I just went through my tracker SS and looked at how many audible+ books I've read this year. 46 so far. almost a quarter of my read books.
The vast majority of them were to cover a challenge task, and the majority of those were for this particular challenge 😆

Basically everything I ever read on kindle unlimited was challenge related!

You've taken it to an extreme on the percentage of your books for a year though!

message 3676: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5692 comments Mod
I've got a Florida one but it might take me a while, so I ly let me read for it if you aren't in a rush.

message 3677: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Guess I can't say this challenge isn't getting me reading stuff I otherwise wouldn't...

Although the less said about the quality of some of those books, the better 😂

Sophie (drsophie) | 5692 comments Mod
There are books with X authors or titles that I don't think should be published, but have been read and the later books in the series seriously considered.

Nothing will top intergalactic space detective or whatever nonsense it was though.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments We've all read some stinkers in the name of challenges, I'm sure!

message 3680: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5692 comments Mod
I'm trying to cut down on the number of them, but I'm a sucker for seeing a task that has been left lingering for a while and deciding that it must be read for!

message 3681: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Ditto 😆

message 3684: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments Can this get away with 50% teal?

The Mountbattens Their Lives and Loves by Andrew Lownie

First I need to finish 2 other books, but can read this one afterwards if there are no other contenders.

message 3685: by Cat (new)

Cat (cat_uk) | 10122 comments Mod
I think it's teal, and just 50% :)

I don't think I've anything sooner. Got 3 books left in my TT cap, 3 books being currently read. Happily they are all longer ones, and I'm busy this weekend - Pulp on Friday night then back to my sister's for the weekend :)

message 3686: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I grabbed the 2 word title. glad the trainwreck of a book I'm just about to finish will come in handy 😂

message 3687: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments OK then, I'll get to it eventually. :))

message 3688: by Melindam (last edited Jun 10, 2025 01:09PM) (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments I'm removing Kulti from the page count 500-650, sorry.

I wanted to give Mariana Zapata a very last try with a kindle version instead of audio, but I find I'm bored out of my wits and I'm just not in the mood for 500+ pages of self-indulgence & bad wish-fulfilment writing.

message 3689: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Yeah, I'm not a fan either.

I can cover though 😁

message 3690: by Melindam (last edited Jun 10, 2025 01:13PM) (new)

Melindam | 8375 comments I hoped you would, but didn't want to push. 🥰

I will take the 350-450 page count instead.

message 3691: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments I'm currently doing a year-long challenge that requires up to 10 chunky books a month, so I pretty much always have one in the wings 😆

message 3692: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments Grabbing the desert task to finish that monster off. Still strugling to find dragons!

message 3693: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments There is also a character named John, but I'm thinking that one is easier, so I'll stick with the desert for now...

message 3695: by Sammy (new)

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 13020 comments and I found a dragon! It's book 2 in a series, but I don't care. it's short 😆
